Welcome to the rabbit hole, dear.
If you click on top of the post on username you see a small popup with the "follow" button.
It's still not implemented (you can't still see the posts from people followed) but will be in the future.
But if you go to steemstats.com and you go on Activity -> Currently following tab, you can see the link to the users you are currently following.
Ah! Thanks for that. My steemit life is intermingled with cleaning up porridge used as finger paint so I get pretty distracted.
