RE: A few things that irritate me that I should probably just let go

I don't know man, I don't think grumpy old men get enough credit. I think they were actually a lot wiser than we ever really realized. I think the concepts stay the same, it's just mostly about the delivery! :) If you feel like reading a good self help book, you should check out "Let Them". It's a good read.

I love that you and I are exchanging reading ideas as of late. One you can skip is "Leviathan Rising" It seemed really in my wheelhouse as sci-fi and dystopian sort of theme. Dreadfully boring and takes way too long to get started. After the last tome I read I just wasn't in the mood for one of those books that you read a few pages and then immediately forget what it was because your eyes were on auto-pilot. I have started a Jack Reacher book now instead. It's stupid and we all know how it is going to turn out but at least the author gets things fucking moving and keeps the pace up.

My go to for mindless easy reads has always been Clive Cussler. I love a good treasure hunt, so all of his books are just amazing. Probably not the most realistic, but a fun time! If you can find them cheap, the Evermen Saga is a decent fantasy collection. For Scifi I highly recommend starship troopers, timeline, and enders game. The books are all better than the movies.

give me a favorite Cussler book for me to put in the pipe for later.

"Sahara" - The movie was good, but the book was much better, "Inca Gold", "Cyclops", there was also one that takes place on Lake Michigan, but I can't remember what it was.

Is the book "The Let them Theory" by Mel Robbins?

Yes, that's it. The last quarter of the book might not apply to you, but the rest is good.
