Steemit "Proof of Brain" evolved to "Proof of Bid"

in #life6 years ago (edited)

Last months were very intense to me. From a Steemit outsider, I quickly became passionate about the driving ideas behind this platform. I grew moved and willing to participate in the makings of it.

Although I had to leave it for a while (about eight months), I came back and became astonished with what I saw.

Steemit is still in "Beta" mode! How is that possible?

If anyone has comments about the Dev. Team -please!- help us all understand what is being done to improve the platform.

From the design and inner workings, I see no change after more than eight months. This is concerning in a sense, given we are in "beta mode" and we should be implementing and testing new features all along.

The Dev. phase can easily profit and feed their ideas just by listening to comments and experiences being described throughout the entire Steemit community.

If anyone here decides to buckle down and understand the workings of Steemits's gracious engine, I believe it is inevitable to come out without a sharp criticism to voting-bots.

Just built up your mind about it.

Something I already told you all: "voting-bots are affecting the pools reward distribution and acting as promoters of low-quality content."

Steemit was built as a community where users are rewarded for sharing their voice with reward distribution according to the community curation. Indeed, curation happens to be one of the most valuable human-inputs from this platform, together with the content production itself!

A great human-value is shining up through Steemit platform. Astonishing experiences and creative views are being shared, unleashing unprecedented life-changing potentials and building a unique historical record of our time.

Envision that in the long run. Steem blockchain might become a precious cultural library over time. A database which is holding humanity wisdom inputs from all over the globe, under no guiding rule and fully accessible to anyone.

Bots are convenient for some, but that comes at the cost of destroying the fundamental concept to which this platformed is based on, the so-called "Proof of Brain," which is the basis for the distribution of Rewards (Steem tokens) when a new block is produced in the Steem blockchain.

Voting bots just made this platform "evolve" from a "Proof of Brain" to a "Proof of BidBot" system. The best bot, with the best associated tools & visibility, will receive most of the delegation power, and this will become the notion of "Successful in Steemit Platform." (Some bots already have implemented Machine Learning features... check out @trufflepig for example)

Is it what we want?

I am sure this is producing a sound trail of jaded writers who actually buckle down to deliver sound content, but get no attention.

I tried to raise Against It, but I can't leave my SP sitting and losing value due to inflationary pressure. I understand the market pressure on all cryptocurrencies. But here at Steemit platform, inflation is also something we all should worry about.

My SP is currently delegated to @therising, in test mode. And yes, you can get some 16% of extra SP per year if you do that.

But this is not what I really want.

I will keep delegating for a while, maybe. But what I really wanted to see here, is a way to block bid-bots, and let the platform flourish, driven by human-curation.

Isn't that why the Steemit platform exists?

Vote for @Steemitboard as a witness to get one more award and increased upvotes!

I agree - there are quite a few bots / accounts asking them to pay steem/SBD to get upvotes / reesteem....if that continues then fundamental principles of steemit (that is steemit community to decide the content quality not money/SBD or bots) as I understand will be difficult to upheld if not impossible. Worth looking at this @steemitboard ? Just thinking out loud.

I keep following steemboard, but I actually don't get much from there... I think it is really hard to be listened by the Dev team. And I don't understand why/how bidbots are allowed to thrive. (please, check other comments in this topic... We can start over some discussion from there... and maybe write some articles together). As I just replied to another comments just after yours "this is a huge problem to the Steemit platform, because the fundamental way to distribute pool rewards is called "Proof of Brain" . If you read the White and Blue paper, they actually talk about that. Steem is the ONLY "Proof of Brain" platform. Think about that. There is no way to "Mine" Steem. To mine SPs, you have to write and post. Apart from Witnesses (that earn part of the pool rewards - sice they keep the platform up and running 24/7) this is the only way to "Mine Steem". So, to conclude. BidBots a corrupting the "mining" system in here. How can the platform survive like this? "

Thanks for charing your thoughts !

Ya, I know I am a little bit guilt of this. One article earned me a dollar. I worked a whole week on it.

Then I found share2steem and actifit. I can get a buck out of a couple of nonsense posts.

I got over 200 upvotes from a tweet about nothing... how many people actually read what they upvote?

Yes, you see? Currently, this is a huge problem to the Steemit platform, because the fundamental way to distribute pool rewards is called "Proof of Brain" .

The more people get aware of the "Proof of Brain"concept and how BidBots corrupt this platform, the better.
