Our New Year Family Camping Trip begins!!

in #life7 years ago

It's shaping up to be a great weekend camping about 3 to 4 hours from Perth up the north coast of Western Australia. Destination: Seaspray Caravan Park, Dongara.

This is our favorite caravan park by far, and have been coming here for the past 5 years. The best thing about this park is we can bring our dogs.

After the long drive the camp is finally setup... looking good!!

Now it's off to the beach to walk the dogs and watch the sun set over the horizon.

The sunsets here in WA are some of the most spectacular, especially on a calm evening.

We've all had dinner, showered, and are lying in bed listening to the waves, just a hundred or so metres away from us.

Last time we came here @nathanmj caught this monster...

@bmj has some serious fishing to do to beat that!!!

Life is good! Family is having a well-deserved break!

O man.. thats a massive fish.. wat is it? I need a holiday.

That was a mulloway, about 12 to 15kg. Really good catch, and way too big for us to eat, so we let it swim away.

A WA sunset is on my bucket list. One day I hope to see it <3

Such pretty beaches! I'm trying to remember if I've been out that way or not, would have been quite a while if we had. Yay for pet friendly camping places! Did you have to take multiple cars or do you have something huge?

Hope you eat the next fish you catch, getting hooked in the face isn't fun XP

Enjoy your weekend :D

We took 2 cars because there were 6 of us, and two dogs.... we needed the extra space. Lol.. we didn't eat any fish.. didn't catch anything decent this time round.

LoL yep totally understandable, it's a pretty tight squeeze with five of us and two dogs!

Ahh well next time :)

Awesome. My wife and I have decided this year we’re going to start camping with my brother who lives in Melbourne. We’ve booked our first trip in to Portland for the Australia Day long weekend. Any tips on gear to get?

A good tent, good bed, and good sleeping bag. Those are the essentials. If you have the space in your vehicle, get the foam matresses. We go through inflatable beds like crazy. They're rubbish.

Camping can be a lot of fun if you're well-equiped. Look on the various market places like gumtree etc for garage sales or camping shelves and camp kitchens etc.. we've scored a few bargains for almost brand new stuff.

Also, you can never have enough tent pegs.

Yep I’m looking out on Facebook and gumtree! Thanks @bmj

Agreed, our sunsets are the best in the world, pretty much anywhere down our strech of coast. (Great to see another Perth Steemer!) Hope you enjoyed your break 😊
