Once upon a time there was a jungle at the foot of a mountain. A river used to flow besides the jungle. The source of the river was the snow from the mountain. The animals in the jungles lived in harmony. One fine day there occurred a high intensity earthquake which caused huge destruction. Many trees fell and shelters of too many animals had been destroyed. The water level of the river rose as a huge glacier slide down the mountain into the river. The river instead of flowing around the jungle started flowing from the middle of the jungle bringing in the biggest floods the jungle had ever witnessed. All the wise folks of the jungle helped the young population evacuate the jungle and reach a high altitude place on the mountain to prevent everyone from drowning. However the mountain had just enough space remaining for the young population to take shelter. Knowing that someone has to die, the elders decided to let the young ones live and sacrifice their own lives. But while dying they passed on the message to the young ones that work together so that you can survive.
After 2 days the flood had gone. The excessive water from the flood had dried up. The water level of the river went back to normal. The flowing water took away the dead bodies of the wise and brave ones who had decided to sacrifice for the next generation. It had also taken away shelters of almost all the animals from the jungle. The jungle was left in a devastated state. With no elders and no shelter to live, the next generation was exposed to a lot of problems. The flood had already done enough damage and to add to it the river had changed its course for ever. It continued to flow from the middle of the jungle bisecting the jungle into 2 parts. Animals descended down the mountain to realize that they were divided into 2 groups as the jungle. The land of the jungle was divided into 2 livable parts divided by a big river.
Left with no choice, the animals on either side decided to settle on their respective sides of jungles for the rest of their lives.

Both parts of the jungle were equally devastated by the rage of water. There was an intense need of reestablishing the civilization but this time without the think tank of their lives. All the wise and experienced members of the lot had been killed. The only good thing which continued was source of water. The river continued to flow with enough fresh water for all animals on either side of the jungle. Along with the river there was one more common advantage which both the groups had. The message for survival. Both had the same ancestral message of survival which said work together to survive.
The middle age generation from both the jungles stood up to the occasion. They took the reinforcement task in their hands. The very first thing they did was to arrange a meeting to decide roles and responsibilities in the new generation. The relatively wise members decoded the survival mantra from the ancestors and made it their way of living.
Monkeys, elephants and horses from east jungle all started doing things together. They all climbed the trees to fetch fruits to eat, all climbed the mountain for getting hay and all together started cutting trees for building shelter. In a few days they were able to establish the civilization with some efforts from all. Since they saw success in what they did they continued to do so and made it their mantra of living.
On the other hand animals from west jungle decoded the survival mantra in a slightly different manner. All the monkeys from the group climbed the trees to fetch fresh fruits for all to eat, elephants using their power cut down the trees for shelter and the horses gathered hay for all in couple of trips to the mountain. They could also establish the civilization but the difference is that west jungle did it faster.
Sure both the groups survived but the lot from east jungle aged faster and died down faster because the monkeys had a hard time using their power, horses had a hard time climbing the trees and so on. The switch in habits made them go down on confidence, slowed down their speed as a lot, made them weaker and thus unhappy.
Where as the lot from west jungle lived a happier, healthier and longer life because the monkeys continued to climb the trees, horses continued the trips to mountain and elephants continued to exploit their power to bring down trees. They had been doing it since the childhood and just continued doing what they did best.
The message of the story is Animals from east jungle decoded the ancestral message of survival in a wrong way. They sure survived for some days and thought that we got the meaning right. But never realized that it was killing them slowly but surely. A small mistake from the think tank made the whole lot suffer. This story can be correlated to any team or even families in day to day life. When in a do or die situation, one should always plan on doing things which they can do the best. Disturbing comfort zone on the wrong time can cost you big time.

Disclaimer: I definitely don't favor staying in the comfort zone for ever. One learns new stuff only when moved out of the comfort zone. And learning always increases your chances for survival in a competitive world. So decide wisely. This is just philosophy and I don't take any responsibilities of decisions you make in your life reading this blog. :P
