Greetings Dear Readers;
.
Hope you are well and enjoying your summer or winter, wherever you are.
Is this not a fine Principle? 'What grace is to the body, good sense is to the mind.' The Ancient Greeks and Romans placed great emphasis on the body in terms of fitness and ability; and for one of their philosophers to say this, meant a great deal to them.
A gentle reminder that the mind should be fit and able as well. One is visible and the other invisible but essential.
Thank you for visiting 'Principle of the Day'. ^__^

I think that the most important thing is the mind, since the body can be modified with current and future technology. As I say jokingly, the one who is ugly is because he doesn't have money, and it's true, now you can have any surgery if you have money.
What am I going to do with a magnificent body and face if I don't have the common sense to analyze it ,the mind is the most important thing for me
I wish you a happy night
Greetings @lupega ,
Interesting way of looking at it....it's true there is no pill for common sense. ^__^
Thank you for your kind reply and good wishes.

What does it mean for a mind to be fit and able? For a body to be graceful, it must be infused with health and joy. Someone actually used the word "graceful" to describe me last night. I was at a gathering in the boondocks, surrounded by nature's glory and seated near a fire, just about to get up and dance to a fabulous band. I felt fit and able all over. I am very happy. A fit and able mind must be happy.
I love your art and your roses. I'll be stopping by more often, to soak up some joy and beauty.
Greetings @owasco ,
Thank you for dropping by. ^__^
To answer your queries...the dictionary and antonyms are my consultants. We are what we think...we use our minds and our thoughts are expressed through the body sometimes but not necessarily always.
If one uses the word 'fit' with regard to the mind, one might be referring to good mental health, attention, problem-solving skills alertness, etc.
If we look at the antonym ..unfit, or the opposite of a 'fit mind' one might be described as a state of mental unfitness which could include conditions such as mental exhaustion, stress, anxiety, or depression.
And we can do the same for the word 'able' which is being used here as a synonym.
The analogy the philosopher was using of 'Grace' to the body was referring to the fact that we all can appreciate Grace expressed in a body...therefore the first part of the Principle...'What grace is to the body'...thus the title of the Photographs..'Ballerina'.....
Take the antonym of Grace....Awkward ....Not everyone is Graceful...however most can appreciate Grace when they see it....the philosopher knew the Greeks and Romans...they did appreciate Grace in the body....he was pointing out that ..What Grace is to the body....Good Sense is to the mind ....something that should be admired as well...and should be strived for.
Thank you for your kind words with regard to Artwork and the Roses.

You are too kind. Happy to hear your kind words regarding that particular photograph....it is a fav.
You are welcome to it ...as a screen saver, perhaps?...I say that because there used to be a lad who would kindly inquire whether he could use one as such. ^__^

Ha ha I understand what you mean. It's an intellectual property of yours and thanks for giving me that option. It's just beautiful.
