On my to work today I saw a half collapsed building. I thought it was really sad, how in the middle of a busy street stands a building already half destroyed. It made me think about old age, and how fast we give up on things just because we want something newer, faster, better. I mean, that building probably had a few more years in it before a wrecking ball went through it. And instead it stood there surrounded by functioning buildings. How did that make it feel?
(Sorry about the quality, the bus was on the move)
The bus continued and I saw that just a few buildings over there is another old but whole building and on one of the balconies was the pride flag. And suddenly the way I think completely shifted. From nostalgic and wanting to preserve the old to Out with the Old in with the New. There were times when it was unthinkable to hang a flag like this. Those time were less good - if you don’t mind me being judgmental. So it’s OK if we sometimes destroy in order to rebuilt. I guess the question is why we do it.
Where is that? Tel-Aviv? You are right, time passes quickly...
