It happened in 1976 and is also called the Custer Last Stand. This was a war that involved the northern tribe Indians and the US army. The US was to blame because of invading the Native American land. The battle took place in Montana. Sitting Bull was the leader if the tribal armies and he decided to start a war with the white people because of their actions. The northern tribe Indians were Sioux, Arapaho and Cheyenne. This battle was due to the white people occupying the Indian land.
The US people did not take this lightly and they divided into three parts in a bid to attack the Indians. The first part was under the leadership of Lt. George Custer who attacked a Sioux camp. He was not successful because the Indians outnumbered his army. The ratio of the Indian army to the US army was three to one. The second group was under the leadership of Crazy Horse. This group trapped Custer’s army and attempted to delay the Indian Attack on the US army. The army used the bodies of the men to protect themselves from the looming Indians. The Indians wiped out the first army.
After these actions, the secretary of war, JD Cameron wrote a letter to the president telling him about what had happened to Castor. He said that Sitting Bull and his Indian army were wild and hostile . This battle was Castor's last stand because his men faced defeat. This was a victory for the Native Americans and a defeat for the US. The Americans called the Indians wild and rowdy. The US government heightened its efforts to defeat the Native American tribe.
