The more time I spend on Steemit, the more I am learning about myself!
I see so many wars going on with various politics on Steemit, but at the same time, I have been blessed to find so many wonderful people that I would never have met in my everyday life and I am learning so much about living peacefully and without violence (physical, emotional or verbal). I have joined a few groups on Discord for various reasons and seem to have found my home.

Steemit is a wonderful place if you choose to be surrounded by people who have likeminded views and you can engage with the community without fear of being attacked. If we do come under attack, I am learning that we have to deal with it peacefully and with love. If the other party refuses to accept my ways, then I will just block them (literally) but also cut them from my thoughts and emotions as I do not wish to give them any power over me.
I am one of those people who stick their head in the sand when I feel uncomfortable and I hide away becoming a Hermit to protect myself from uncomfortable situations. What I am learning is that with the support of the amazing people I have found here on Steemit/Discord, I can gradually bring myself back into socialising and feel safe.

Debate is different to confrontation in my eyes. I am always open to looking at other people’s perspectives, in fact I think this is an important skill as we all have to learn and develop in life and the only way to do this is by listening. I love to read about the thoughts and views of others and as an ‘Empath’, I truly feel when someone is being genuine and I respect that; even if my own views are different. In fact @wwf holds a great debate every now and then which I have learned immense amounts from! I would definitely suggest checking out his blogs if you want to learn more about living peacefully.
My aim in life is to constantly strive to be a better and more peaceful person. I intend to do this through mixing with positive people, engaging only with love and respect and removing negativity from my life.
I want to thank a few people for supporting me here on my steemit journey. Without your kind words and encouragement, I may not have stayed on this platform and be in a position to develop myself today:
@mcfarhat, you have been my supporter from the beginning! Always there to offer kind words and encouragement. Thank you for being you!
@teamhumble, you are one of the most ‘real’ people I have met on Steemit and I value your honesty about life as well as your knowledge about all things techy! So glad to have found you here.
@wwf, I have only spoken to you a few times, but I have followed your blog since the beginning and you offer so many insights to things that I always thought were idealistic and unrealistic, but with your words you have given me strength to follow a path of peace and I am learning day by day to become more engaged in society, so thank you.
@techslut, I find your strength inspiring! You have battled fearlessly for your views and have never given in to bullying, I admire this! You also support so many people and always bring a smile to my face.
@meesterboom, you make me laugh every day! You remind me that there is fun to be found in everything that we do and it is so important to smile! Whenever I am feeling a little low, I reach for Uncle Boom!
@meanmommy33, you are such a hard worker. You never let things get you down no matter what the situation, you always respond to comments and make everyone feel welcome. You are a true friend to us all!
@didic, you are so knowledgeable and I think you have to be one of the most supportive people I have met here on Steemit! You always go out of your way to show support to everyone, no matter who they are and if anyone needs help or advice, you are always there to give it. You are the Yoda of Steemit!
This is an emotional journey for me! It is hard for me to be open about my feelings and I want to thank each and every person who has affected my life positively, I am becoming a better person because of you guys. Thank you to Steemit (@ned) for giving me the opportunity to meet amazing people that I would not have had the chance to engage with in real life.
So for now, I leave you all with a virtual hug!
Thank you for being amazing! Much love and peace, @beautifulbullies xx
I will take that in the generous spirit in which it was given, and not bring my own baggage of thinking Yoda is THE WORST. Here's a rare nice Yoda moment.
haha sorry @didic, I hope I didn't offend you! It was meant in the nicest possible way ;)
I know it was meant in the best possible way, and I super appreciate the sentiment behind it!
Maybe you should buy some Yoda ears :) I'm with her on this. You have been one of the most supportive and welcoming person I've had the pleasure to encounter on steemit.
:)
@didic as the Yoda of steemit. I kinda love that. <3
haha it just felt right :) (he really is though isn't he!)
People always forget that Yoda is THE WORST. Because he's so wise, and he's a teacher. The Yoda of "The Last Jedi," Mr. Failure Is The Best Teacher, is great. The Yoda of the rest of the films? "Do Or Do Not, There Is No Try" is almost the worst advice ever. "Fear Leads To Anger, Anger Leads To Hate, Hate Leads To Suffering," is the actual worst advice ever. Fear is a natural thing, and some of us are anxious, you pompous little shit. If you weren't the worst teacher ever, maybe Anakin wouldn't have turned. If you were half as perceptive as you think you are, maybe you'd notice the Sith Lord in the senate before he became emperor.
I... I seem to have some feelings about Yoda.
just have to ask, could you explain this a bit more?? > "Do Or Do Not, There Is No Try" is almost the worst advice ever. Personally I like that particular yoda-ism, just curious to hear your thoughts...
As wiser, deader Yoda explained to Luke in TLJ, failure can be a great teacher. Trying and failing can be a great learning experience. Doubts are human. You know who doesn't experience doubt? Psychopaths. This is one of those pieces of advice that sound super wise, but are, in fact, utterly useless and potentially harmful. These films are iconic, and Yoda is posited as the ultimate teacher. And him giving this advice to Luke is both harmful to Luke (who would later take a big failure so hard he exiled himself for YEARS), and, more importantly, to impressionable young minds. Failure is how we learn. And learning to move on from failure is an important lesson.
xD I feel like I need to apologise..
I feel it was worth it. That rant had me rolling around. @didic I love you so bloody much it's unreal.
Right back atcha.
Things I learned today....
@didic is a Star Wars scholar ;)
Not a proper scholar, no. Just a fan with FEELS. Basically, I'm a nerd, and that's the lens through which I view all my interests, which are, as my weekly posts can indicate, somewhat eclectic.
What a wonderful read thank you #sugarmamas
I am glad you enjoyed it thank you for your comment @gardengirlcanada :)
this is really beautiful, it really is important to accept people for who they are, acceptance is not the same as agreement. We are all entitled to our opinions and we should certainly be able to voice them without fear of being attacked.
There are definitely so many inspiring people on here. Always nice connecting with you @beautifulbullies
Thank you @trucklife-family, I love our little chats! :) You are so right, we should embrace and respect difference and accept each other's individuality. The world would be a much more peaceful place to live in if we all did this!
When I was reading through your post, I felt a wonderful connection and my heart sang as you expressed how you felt about people in your life. Bravo. Then you shared how you felt about me and I felt honoured and deeply touched by your expression of gratitude and appreciation.
To see the hope spring up from within you is an amazing thing to witness. Perhaps one day it would spawn a name change. :)
But then I got to the end of your post and saw The Virtue Circle and my heart jumped for joy! Bravo my dear spiritual sister. You have shown courage and faith in yourself and it is amazing to witness. Keep up the great work!
May I ask what you mean by a name change? Do you mean the 'bullies' part of my username? If so, yes I regret that I didn't put much thought into the name when I signed up and it is supposed to be in relation to my love of bulldogs, not the 'bully' type person who causes pain and grief to others, but unfortunately we can't change our usernames on here, I have tried lol I get asked about that a lot and I really wish I could go back and change it. hopefully one day Steemit will give us to have the option to change it :)
I feel I have embarked upon a journey that I didn't expect and I am excited to see where it takes me! I meant what I said in my post, you truly have given me the courage to be strong and to work hard at developing my self, so thank you again :) I wish peace and prosperity to you and your family!Thank you @wwf! It really was hard to write this post but it feels great to see that it has impacted positively on other's too! I am learning that we really can make the world a better place, one act of kindness at a time. You speak the truth! :)
Ahhhhh. I did not realize that bull dogs were called 'bullies'. Sounds 'English'. You from the UK? Thank you soooo much for clarifying that. Without context we do have a nasty habit of assuming. I ask for forgiveness for from you for assuming. I don't think you should change it at all now! Bravo my dear spiritual sister. I am grateful that I was able to influence you along this journey. You have been doing very well and it is an honour to be a witness to your growth! May Creator bless you with peace, freedom, prosperity, joy and love.
Yes I am English :) I live in the UK. Of course I forgive you, I am asked at least once a day about my username lol I really didn't think of the implications of using the name when I signed up, bullies and bullys are two different things to me, but I realise that is not the same everywhere now. Alas, I am stuck with a name that portrays me as something I despise the most! ah well, at least it is a talking point xD I just hope it doesn't scare away too many people from seeing the real me!
I think there is a huge learning lesson in this, for those who would judge you based on a name. How common is it that we judge others based on assumptions, bias, discrimination, language, caste, color, etc. To honour somebody is to spend time with them so that their true colors show. Some times that takes years.
My dear friend, make lemon aid and see if you can use this as a way to break the ice and challenge people on their preconceived notions, etc. It might help form some stronger relationships. I know that it worked for me. I now have a deeper spiritual and emotional attachment to you than I did yesterday. There is great value in the process.
oh wow, that's a lovely comment to see myself mentioned in. i do try and keep authentically to me regardless if it's popular or cool or if i'm in with the in crowd, it can be hard to have a voice online to find your own tribe and to protect yourself from the drama of the 'tinternet --- all i can say is find yourself, your true north and map from there. filter out all the things that make you react and question why, are you trying to shape or control or something else -- as i get older i accept that i'm a batshit human being and i'm fine with that.
again, thanks for the props, much virtual hugs! x
'batshit human being' haha love it! That is basically what it all boils down to doesn't it! We are who we are in this crazy world :)
yep, insecurities and attitude problems and everything else that shapes us. the thing is are potentially all the other things we wish to be in the other 1000 parallel universes living out those lives we expect of ourselves anyway. so why not just party like it's 1999 in this one eh? :)
abso-freaking-lootley! :D (Also 1999 was a good year lol)
it's so long ago, i was probably wearing twin tone grey nike tops and white nike trainers with the red flash trying to be cool.
This is such a beautiful post. I like to be a positive person too. And I usually run from conflict. I rather just stay away from it. But I've learned that when something is wrong, it's our duty to say it's wrong. No need to be rude or disrespect. It can be done with love, but we have to speak up. So I totally get you. Count on me all the way from the south. It's wonderful to meet such great people on steemit.
P.S: I'm with you on @didic being the steemit yoda
Thank you @gabyoraa :) I think I will come to regret referring to @didc as Yoda, as you can see he has very strong feelings about it! lol Luckily he knew what I meant ;)
that is a beautiful post, @beautifulbullies. There are all types of people in the world. It is better to stay away from negative people who drain us. Steemit definitely connects like minded people to each other. You are a beautiful person, @beautifulbullies, - charismatic and positive. Never, ever forget that :)
Thank you so much @nehab :) I just love being inspired by all the amazing people here, yourself included! I love your poetry and your art is stunning, it always speaks to my heart! You are also one of the beautiful people I feel blessed to have met here on Steemit :)
thank you, @beautifulbullies ... I am grinning from ear to ear . You are very sweet. The truth is, goodness begets goodness. It is your goodness and cheer that spreads a positive energy everywhere around you. Here in steemit too :) ... Lots of success and prosperity to you , @beautifulbullies :)
Wow reading your post you must have had a hard history, Its those things that make you stronger, I know from experience and I am glad that you are part of the steemit family. Well done for your perseverance and will to get stronger :)
Thank you :) I wish you and your family peace and prosperity :)
I wish I had that abilities to speak and expressing more positive and bringing some inspirational thought and ideas...like yours...I'm trying to get rid of my limitation...Thanks for such a wonderful article..
thank you@dylen, I am only just finding my strength. we are all growing each and every day and although I don't agree with a lot of the stuff that goes on in the world and try to hide from most of it, I am learning that we can hopefully change the way the world works, one person at a time!
Nice post idea, upvoted for sharing love and making some shout outs! I'm just curious though, couldn't most of this also apply to other social networks ie > "Steemit is a wonderful place if you choose to be surrounded by people who have likeminded views and you can engage with the community without fear of being attacked."
Although you probably have a point, although there are definitely some trolls here, I've seen far less than other popular social media platforms (cough, Facebook, cough) :)
Thank you for your support @jobsande! I guess there are trolls everywhere. The main thing I am learning is how to cut the negativity out of my life and yes, this can be extended to other social media as wel as real life around us all :)
Ohhh Im speechless!
Thank you for such kind words :)
I am real happy to have met you here. Indeed people like you made my steemit journey an amazing one!
Have a great weekend @beautifulbullies !
You are most welcome :) Have a great weekend too @mcfarhat!
This is a really beautiful post. I have shied away from "social media" due to the hole bullying issue. I just don't need that in my life. I echo your words exactly. My daughter has been on Steemit for a couple of month and I have been following her. Her experience has been amazing. Kind, kind people. So, I decided to join, hoping to find a supporting like-minded group as well. So we shall see. I hope I have a good experience like you have! Following you now! Thanks for your post.
Welcome to the wonderful world of steemit! :D I wish you every success and I am sure you will also find your tribe here, there are thousands of amazing people just waiting to befriend you :) Thank you for your comment :)
BIG BEAUTIFUL VIRTUAL HUG AND GRATITUDE TO YOU AS WELL! It's so healing to witness this amount of love and recognition...Feeling so blessed!
awww thank you! :) I have certainly felt the love pouring back to me from all of the lovely comments! Peace and love to you my friend!
LOVE & AND PEACE! LOVE & PEACE!
That was a very nice post. I am also discovering more about my self. I am beginning to open up and developing more with my social skills, and widening my grammar. Surrounding people with like mind, makes a really positive feeling about your self. Thank you.
You are welcome and thank you for your kind comment! :)
Awwww! This post is epic! I was a little bit unsettled over something that has been bothering me, but after reading this awesome, post, I realized its my decision to remain that way or change things around. I feel a lot better now. Thank @beautifulbullies for taking time to put this out here.
Awww I am so pleased that it helped you to decide to change things for the better! Thank you for your kind comment :)
The maintenance of peace begins with the self-satisfaction of each individual. Greetings friend
thank you for commenting with such wise words :)
Really beautiful and powerful post. I'm learning a lot about myself too, and that's something I just didn't expect to get here.
That really is the key. And truly, YOU have the power to make that happen. Whether it's from blocking, walking away, agreeing to disagree, whatever works for you. But I do believe you can be a strong, powerful, influential person and do it in a 100% positive way. Good for you!!
Thank you @appiepearl Yes, Steemit is truly a great place to develop ones self and to meet amazing people! :) I have a long way to go before I would call myself strong, but I definitely want to work towards that being my goal. Thank you for your comment!
I like candidness and gratitude that you expressed to your tribe in this post. I too am of the belief that no one has the right to make you feel uncomfortable in Steem Land and you should do what needs to be done to remain at peace. I am a newbie and I made my first post on Steemit today and I am finding my way around the platform. I will definitely check out the list of people who have made your experience here better.
Thank you so much for your reply @cybilbitgirl! Welcome to steemit! I wish you every success! :)
Thank you
What a lovely tribute! I've only been here a little over a month, but I can see exactly what you mean. I was very nervous to join a discord group, but everyone on teamgirlpowa that I have interacted with has been great. I'm still a little timid, but I'll keep pushing myself. Cheers!
Thank you @orangina! small steps :)
