Oops You Showed your true colors! A lesson for Steemians

in #life7 years ago

Incentivized kindness is the game on here, you get paid and a lot of times some PAY THEMSELVES A LOT (masturvoting, self-upvoting ,not judging on some but on others... lol). However, all the people you sometimes pay or incentivize somehow to be on your "team" are sometimes not so impressed when true colors show such as acting like you are one thing and are a weirdo and not necessarily in a fun and quirky sense of the term.

Anyways, I shall revisit the fact that incentivized kindness is a lure, a shell game and bait and switch at times and it's embarassing to see some starting to unravel at best or literally just be assholes. If I'm in a bad mood I'll say so to your face and be like, hey PMS calling! The thing that bothers many of us are the false faces that throw literal tantrums and the mask falls off and it's like hold up, You were supposed to be this amazingly wonderful bastion of awesomesauce but ummmm, not so much, lol. When you start on Steem you can make a lot of "instafriends" and be ushered into different circles rapidly and before you know it some things don't quite add up or you are wondering what that weird vibe you are getting when you read someone playing the Saint yesterday is acting like they can't take "adulting" today.

SO, feel free to scroll through all my blog to see me being me, there is zero bullshit and I write on topics that go from the absurd like joking about poo to silly songs to very serious matters such as domestic violence advocacy and monetary matters. I practice what I preach and have the freedom to do so as do SOME others. Basically to summarize, you get paid in a way to play nice on here so just be aware/cautious of what some have as an end game and stay true to yourself and don't compromise your values or laugh too hard at those whose true colors showed....or lack thereof.
Until Next Time Steemians,
xoxo,
B.A.

Do you know Niccolo Machiavelli?

He wrote a book about power and how leaders behave or should behave to be successful. Napoleon and Hitler were big fans. There was the concept of the 3 faces of a leader.

The humanitarian (sheep) face for your people.

The brave face (lion) for your friends/allies.

The fearsome face (wolf) for your enemies.

Many people hate on Nico because they see it as an instruction for dictators. In reality it is more of an empiric analysis of power and how to get it.

Only book I ever bought and read was "the prince" by Machiavelli :3

His concepts from "the Prince" can applied in every day life - and should be, to some extent - in order to be successful in life. At the very least it pays off to familiarize oneself with the concepts, in order to protect oneself from psychopathic, and no doubt, smart people, who would otherwise exploit other people.

you are exactly right. People just got to butt hurt about the true nature of power. They often describe what they want power to be, but they fail to see how power has been for the last 4000 years and ongoing ;)

As I've pointed out before, there is certainly a lot of fakery around here. Fake politeness. Fake positivity. Fake "development projects." Fake "revenue models" and "revenue sharing." You really need to be able to parse the fake BS from the real thing. The problem is - the bar has been set so low, anything that appears to be less fake (relatively) can almost feel quite refreshing...but may still be a glass of piss trying to pass itself off as award-winning champagne.

But...

Nobody cares anyway.

I CARE DAMN IT!

I know, but ultimately they're hurting themselves because you can make more by using stake correctly than votesturbating. I don't know why people don't lease out stake to someone who will actually use it.

My goal is to provide quality content - and yes, my goal is also to use the steemit model to make money off it. However, when someone is fake, or uses flattery, then I will ignore or flag said person. I don't like them in real life, I don't like them here. I don't need fake followers who don't care about what I do. In the end it hurts Steemit itself. My goal is to have a large following, and that won't happen, if Steemit grows a reputation of consisting of fake penny-pegging plebs, thus discouraging new members to register.

Reasonable. I want to use Steem as a platform for discussion and discovery. I'd like to build as much steem power as I can, Im not as worried about SBD at the moment. I'm investing in my future this way, and that's a very positive feeling. What are your interests?

I already have a large following on Facebook. The problem is, that Facebook is more and more silencing people who speak agains their leftist agenda.

Steemit seems to respect free speech a lot more, and it is also built upon a completely new idea - to profit the writers, as opposed to Facebook where all the writers and contributors get, is access to the site.

Talking about fake stuff...

Hmm. Go on...

What colors @battleaxe ?

true

Yes. Agreed with David and Axe. Fakeness is like a cancer that is all over.

maybe not all fake.. but more underestimated responsibilities that users end up running away from. It's easy for users to "fuck up" and even more easier to just let it all go and not even acknowledge it's existence. Many think they can handle these responsibilities and ignore the consequences, when they come around.

I do agree tho.. there is a lot of "fakery" and bullshit people on here looking to get ahead with no intentions of giving back. Those are the users who need to be identified and put on a "terror watch list"

haha, that last part was a joke.. well, kinda

" When you start on Steem you can make a lot of "instafriends" and be ushered into different circles rapidly and before you know it some things don't quite add up " lol oh my lovely @battleaxe you a breath of fresh air sometimes ))

call an ace an ace ;)

Have you made a discovery then? Learning about some people in your chat room? Or is it something else?

My chat room is Narwhals , this is a general observation with humor and a narwhal with a cat riding it thrown in

Oh, ok. I thought maybe you were referring to people within the SteemSpeak crowd.

NO, this is about the entire universe of the "ecosystem".....I am not going to speak ill of that group or mine.....usually it's what I leave out that should speak more ;) <3

i find the chat areas have very low standard of conversation and haven't been able to handle the lack of intelligence and slow pace - i must be connecting with the wrong people or the wrong time -i am now following you in support

Appreciated

Good birds of the same flocks.

Thanks battleaxe, this needed to be said!!

Sounding like Trump with all this "FAKE" talk..lol..You can tell who is real and who is here because they heard you can make some bucks on this social networking site, and some are here to show the world their talent and skills in whatever it may be. Great post.

I'm pretty much an asshole on the internet, but not on Steemit. I will be totally nice for that 0.01 upvote.

do more a kiss ass you'll get more than 0.01 lol

G eazy said " be careful with people you meet here" Doesn't take long for me lol

It's best to write about ourselves cause I believe that what matters is our voice. If I am genuinely helping someone, that's also me being me. I don't really want to dig down through people motives cause it can get really bad.

Anyway I always know that under Philosophy I'd find something interesting!

Cheers dude, keep being you!

Nice post here. I just started Steemit a few days ago and was starting to make some of the same observations.

everyone has breakdowns from trying so hard to impress in a community filled with users looking for a big break.. the mistake is not realizing.. the people you're stressing over, trying to impress, are struggling with the same issues.

It is a very big responsibility to lead by example on steemit.. being upfront and honest is what everyone calls for yet steemit is over saturated with multiple accounts from one person or another, pushing different ideas and agendas to put themselves in a better position to make more money and be a "Legend"

I feel ya tho.. good stuff.

thank you for the thoughful reply, My motto is "The good Shine and the rest Whine".......and yes, the greed and venom only makes those who spew it look like asses imho

An interesting insight about the Steem community. Today is my first day, and I just posted my first story less than an hour ago, so I'm still waiting for all these alleged instafriends to come calling, lol. Hoping for the best!

Too much fake love out here.
Gotta respect the real ones :)

Love this! I like to think I show my true colors. I figure it weeds people out fast and saves me time too haha!! 😂

Agreed. Be true. Weed people out. Save a lot fo time.

Deleted. Sorry again

linking your links in others blogs is "bloggerbating" lol :) just you are new so wanted to kinda fill ya in on that, it's a kinda no noooo, I will follow you however :)

Updooted. :P

I will doot you so hard you will not see that doot coming....doot

Yeah i find steemit incentavises hive mind too much with the upvotes. Whike there are fewer trolls, fewer people also voice dissenting opinions.

Yeah, idk. I've been powering up my posts for the last week or so. I figure I want to grow my stake regardless of if I get 50/50 or 100%

Self vote if you want to, but you'll make more money by accurately curating, or by renting your stake out to others.

I wonder if the value was taking out of the platform, how many people would stick around? With the lack of features here, my guess would probably be fairly little, especially some of the true content creators.

Going to be interesting next couple weeks, the claws coming out

Upvoted and RESTEEMED :)

Good post, very well written. Thanks for sharing :) Keep on Steeming.

good lesson , thanks for sharing battle , best wishes for you ;)

SO, feel free to scroll through all my blog to see me being me, there is zero bullshit and I write on topics that go from the absurd like joking about poo to silly songs to very serious matters such as....

I try to be me too, but at the same time I try to be the best type of me I can be... still, "if I don't like you I'll say that to your face"... But I don't do that much because I can count the number of people I really hated in my life on my hands. and even then I feel more sorry than hate for them.

Some people might not like it but if I see a Post that can be better, I'd say what it lacks in a comment (not always because I don't always have time for listing what is wrong with the world). sometimes I think if what I'm doing is offensive... sometimes I think I talk too much!! But I can't stop.... I feel that if I don't try to 'fix' people, the world might end.

well one thing IS certain lol.....the world will end one day....me not liking and the term "Hate" are two totally different things and oh yes I feel more embarrassed and sorry for them then anything....

well one thing IS certain lol.....the world will end one day.

Yeah!! Lol... I just hope it's not in my life time, because I feel it will be a Painful End.

me not liking and the term "Hate" are two totally different things.

Yeah... there are many people I don't like, but only few people I can use "Hate" on them... I know they are different things but... well, nevermind.

fake expressions...everywhere. It's hard to tell from the real..

I think that incentivized good behavior or kindness is not a bad thing. There are Steemians who offer help in one way or another and I just accept their help. I don't really question their motives for helping me. We just have to realistic, these are just on line acquaintances and we should not have expectations of them treating us friends or close friends. Just my 2 cents.

Good article Mary <3
