So the other day I was having lunch and sitting close enough to the counter that I could overhear conversations. That's a different story. As I was sitting there enjoying my lunch a personal trainer came in with the confidence and swagger you would want your personal trainer to have but not have if he wasn't your personal trainer. You know the all eyes on me walk and talk. Practicing his dance moves to the music in the joint and just give his full attention and sincere concern to the conversation at hand. Really just wants to say his piece and achieve his agenda. (Like a lot of us from time to time)
Sorry don't want to digress too far. Anyhow, this personal trainer, let's call him Bob, starts to give some grief to the guy behind the counter, we'll call him Rich, for not coming to the gym.
Like most of us, Rich starts to come up with the usual suspects about why he can't make or why he won't join. No time, no money, too busy, work too much, need to do things at home, etc....
Bob won't hear it and starts in on Rich.
One thing that I thought was of particular interest was a statement he made about there being only two types of people in the world. Why I caught this specific line was the use of the word "only". I was raised that only, always, never, and ever just didn't happen that often in the world and I should find better ways to describe or explain my hyperbole and latest dramatic issue I was going through.
What Bob, the personal trainer had said was this, "there are only two types of people in the world, Spectators
and Performers
and if you were just spectating you were dying. I thought this was a bit harsh and my defend the abused brain started to take over.
Like a good many of you I am involved in bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies so I got Bob's attention, which wasn't too hard since he was so engaged in the other conversation, and asked him if he had heard of bitcoin and was involved in it in any way. He's like "what's bitcoin" and I said, "oh man, you're dying." Nothing came of it and he probably didn't really get my point but it led me to wanting to ask this question of you all,
"What examples of the "only two types of people in the world" do you use?
All the best and continued success,
Brad
