Solitude is a state of seclusion or isolation, that is, lack of contact with others. This condition may come from poor relationships, loss of loved ones, deliberate choice, infectious diseases, mental disorders, neurological disorders or state of employment or situation (eg stranded in a foreign place). Short-term loneliness is often rated as times when a person can work, think or rest undisturbed. That may be desirable for privacy. Solitude and loneliness are two different things. In this sense, both words refer to the joy and pain of being alone. [1] [2] [3] [4]
