RE: A tough lesson to finally understand the meaning of being HONORABLE

in #life8 years ago

Thanks @handsolo much appreciated.
Hey man you are quite a guy yourself.
Incredibly brave to face and and embrace life after losing your arm like that.
What a life warrior- you are also a great example of being honorable.
I almost became a jet engine mechanic in the air force way back in 1979.
The air-force came to our school looking for new recruits, they brought a jet fighter on the back of a lorry and as soon as I sat inside I thought this was for me. Me and my mate took the bus into the city to sign up.
He joined the Navy and I joined the air-force.
I did all the circuit training and the computer tests and IQ tests etc and came a respectable 12th out of 150.
Two weeks later I went to sign the form for 3 years service but the officer who interviewed me said I could not be a pilot due me having asthma.
However, I had done so well they offered me to be a mechanic on the planes themselves. It was still a good career he said. Im sure it was but I had my heart dead set on becoming a pilot. So I never signed .
I went to art college instead.
My father, who had also served in the air-force, was so disappointed he didnt speak to me for 2 months lol!
My best friend who join the Navy later died in the Falklands war. It was a hard blow. I loved that guy. He had protected me for years in school when I was often bullied. He definitely was an honorable guy.
Respect my friend , cheers!
