Recently I've been thinking about the interactions I have with people and the different reactions or forms of treatment I give them and more accurately the different masks I put on each day.
Today a funny thing happened, while at work a co-worker / friend of mine said a rather hurtful thing while I was trying to help him. Instead of doing what I really wanted to and say a simple screw you buddy, you really hurt my feelings. I simply smiled and walked away pretending that everything was alright.
Why do we as humans do this? Is it to protect ourselves and be accepted by society, or is it the simple want to not stir up trouble where there doesn't need to any.
Perhaps the most profound thing is just how many faces we put on per day: happy, sad, angry, bitchy etc...
At what point are you really yourself? Even if you're completely comfortable with a person, do you dare to completely share your true self with them?
Food for thought💡
