There is no connection between wealth and happiness - A True Story

in #life7 years ago (edited)

There are many people who will laugh now and say,
"Really, I need a million dollars and I will be happy"

Recently, when I was dealing with cryptographic coins, I got to know rich people!
How rich?
Some of them have over 100 million dollars!
Most of them do not understand much about the Bitcoin world, some are key people in the Bitcoin world.

I went to visit one family in which the father made a lot of money (not from Bitcoin) and I saw the family completely finished, broke!

The child is clinically depressed - all the time in front of the computer, if he is disconnected from the computer he plays on a cell phone.

The girl is quiet and introverted, they are two children.

I talked to the father a little about digital coins, he left the family long ago, he lived with his mistress and left his wife.

The curses I heard him cursing his wife would not embarrass a person suffering from a tort.

His former wife started taking antidepressants and she takes care of the house (a huge villa) alone and also the children, the father is hardly in contact with the children.

His former wife told me:

I do not know how when he started to be rich he left me and the children?

If you go into their house, you'll see a lot of money!
But you will not see a drop of happiness

On the other hand, I know a family that I teach them privately-math and english

They do not have a lot of money - they are five children and they were expelled from the house that was theirs because they could not repay the mortgage

Money I can not find there,
The sofas are received from donations, they receive packages of food every week to help them survive
They earn a pretty good salary, and fate is just cruel to them.
But when you go into the house, what you see is smiling children and you smell a good smell of cooking.

When I read the book "How to treat money" I did not believe the paragraph that says "there is no connection between wealth and happiness"

As I grew older, and I went into new houses, I saw new people
I understood one thing, you can be happy in any situation!

As long as you're healthy and you have somewhere to sleep and what to eat, what we lack is satisfaction in the head.

There is a sentence in Jewish wisdom that says "איזה הוא עשיר? השמח בחלקו".
Who is rich? Those who are happy with they have. (poor translate , in Hbrew it sounds much better)

When you are a child you do not understand the sentence in depth.
You want the most expensive toy, or the Playstation, or fly to beautiful places.

There is an interesting message to my life at least.

If you are not happy when you have no money (or anything you want)
Apparently money or anything else would not change the situation.

If you are happy and happy with what you have, you are probably a tool to gain more happiness and wealth.

So what came the egg or the chicken first?
Happiness or wealth?
Decide for yourself.

That's really true and it is all matter of understanding.
The thing is we only need certain amount of money to fulfill our needs.

Interesting topic. But you always have to remind yourself that there are always storys where it's upside down. So in this context there are tons of wealthy AND healthy families who are just enjoying their life and their money because that's one aspect what money actually IS for. Further I know a few families who do not have a lot of money and in addition to that their family life is also broken.

I'm not trying to tell you that there's a connection between wealth and happiness but for sure, and 90% of you will agree with that, there is a connection between mindfulness and happiness. And if you would use your mindfulness to create something valueable (in a positive way) for other people than happiness will come as a byproduct.

Anyway great post thanks for that :)
Have a nice day!

It's very true - some studies have found a correlation with having enough wealth to be comfortable with happiness, but above a modest amount, there was no increasing happiness after that.

If we are unhappy and poor, when we become weathly, we will now be unhappy and rich. We must seek that inner contentment to become truly satisfied. Thanks for sharing your story of the two families. It was quite sad in a way, but also enlightening. Have a great day @amiramnoam!

"Who is rich? Those who are happy with what he has"

This is so true. Long time ago now I gave away all my belongings and have been living without money for many of years. The journey has been quite a challenge to say the least but transforming and I've learned and grown so much. If you don't know how to use your monetary wealth it can indeed be more of a curse then a blessing. Having good information to base your decisions on is key. Going to share more of my experiences and knowledge here on the Steem blockchain going forward and I'm happy to share this journey with you @amiramnoam. 2018 is looking to be a real exciting year... :)

@amiramnoam - You are absolutely correct my friend. I have personally experienced the issue with trying to be successful (which in terms of normal world people - means making more money) and in the process, I was losing touch with my family, my own passions.
Money is not everything. Of course, we need money to survive but how much is 'enough' - we all have to decide for ourselves. Are we content with what we have or are we in a rat-race of life - that is what I asked in my post today and here is a post from you that answers it almost. :)

I wish more people like us will finally realize the truth to this fact about finding happiness. If only we can all find the balance between earning money and spending time doing the things that are most important, like spending time with our families. Thanks for sharing your personal experiences @amiramnoam 🤛

There is a connection but not established always. Wealth can be a cause of happiness if you are not a slave of wealth. But happiness can be without of wealth it is true.

There is a fine line where you have too much money. But also not having enough can be very stressful. You could be living in a home where there is always a negative vibe. Only if you had enough money to move out, get your own space, be able to eat everyday, and have a vehicle that works and is able to get you where you need to go. When suddenly you feel you NEED a lambo or the newest phone or the most expensive steak then you're setting yourself up to not enjoy the little things in life.

I would say I am a happy person...but boy am I stressed out and unhappy sometimes and the majority of my stress can be relieved if I was to receive a million dollars per your example. The true things that should make you happy are the loved ones around you and doing things you love. If you can't afford the life you want to live then it's time to do something about it. Financial freedom allows you to explore more in depth who you are as a person...at least that's what I imagine it to be like.

I basically agree. Money cannot buy happiness. They have tragedies too. Rich people.

Most people want the things that they don't have. But not a lot of people are grateful for everything they already have. When you start being grateful, only then you can become happy.

Home is in the intellectual capacity to be happy. -A homeless (not according to him though!) guy named Mark.

@amiramnoam - Excellent post, worth to re-read for many. The essence is ? "Nobody, yeah nobody ever won or will win the money game" ... and this is what is not understood by almost nobody though they say all the time: yeah, yeah I understood :) # 10 points to you from space for your great exposure !

I remember the quote of Bob Marley:

“Money is numbers and numbers never end. If it takes money to be happy, your search for happiness will never end.”

When I was a child, I love to play even if I'm alone playing. Now, I also love to play but with a responsibility to spend time to earn something. In my opinion its actually the balance of things that would be most difficult to master. How to moderate as much moderation as possible. When we're out of balance, especially the desire for money, we get lost.

You know what? I am 47 years old and I finally realized the depth and profound wisdom that you have wrote in this post, that you become happy if you learn how to be content with what you have. I was just like the people you have described. I had to have that car, had to have that cool watch. Even though it cost 30 gran. But you are absolutely correct once you have it then want? There's an emptiness inside. Thanks for sharing @amiramnoan. Looking forward for your next post! 🤛

Yes your right
Theres a full possibility of having money but not being happy
Good post.

Who does not want to have money? In this modern civilization, money does have an important role in everyday life. In fact, money can be the most logical motive used to move people. Yes, so a rich man with lots of money can certainly make you happy. You can buy things you like without much calculation beforehand. But who still believes that money can afford everything? Hopefully no, because in this world there are things that are valuable, priceless and can not be purchased with how much money you have the happiness ... for me the most important happiness ...

great thinking brother.... if you want to enjoy in your life you need wealth and with sufficent money..... thanks for discuss for this topic.... its a nice post.....

In fact, not all is money, I have seen many people live in a normal way but they are very happy.May be satisfied with very little, money can never be a cause for happiness.

Happiness create wealth. A happy state of mind can create ideals of creating wealth.

Hallo @amiramnoam Money is not everything. Of course, we need money to survive but how much is 'enough' - we all have to decide for ourselves. Regards,

Money past a certain point doesn't buy more happiness, but money under a certain level proves to avoid the sadness that comes from living a life of constant want. Based on studies I think the level is as high as $70,000 a year for Americans, for example, where it starts to have less of an affect over that.

That $70k a year is a movable target. $70k where I live is great but not so great in say California or New York. I think one of the biggest issues is living within your means. And sometimes the job that pays the most isn't worth the stress it adds. Being paid for doing something you like and/or around people you like makes life a little easier to enjoy.

a very important share. people believe that money is happiness. This is a wrong idea for me. money is not happiness. it only increases welfare. happiness for me to be with the people you love. @amiramnoam

A great many people need the things that they don't have. In any case, not many individuals are appreciative for all that they as of now have. When you begin being thankful, at exactly that point you can end up plainly cheerful.

I congratulate you on transferring very accurate information @amiramnoam

Wow, its such a wonderful write up. Its so true that there is no connection between wealth and happiness, Joy and happiness is something that comes from within and when you start looking for it externally then its an artificial expression. The more people get the more they get greedy and want more, there is no contentment and in the chase of getting more and more they neglect everything else in life including their families who bring them real happiness.
But there is a very funny saying
It is always a comfort to cry in a Mercedes rather than a small hut....Hahahaha

really super & mind touch post and pic like it.
I like your all content because your content type and quality is so good.
carry on

Great post buddy

I like your post

This information is very good, this is what I was looking for.

What most people really thinks is that money can buy happiness. It is a capital no..money can't buy happiness. .I know a lot of rich people whom ain't happy at all..they are always sad..and I know people who ain't as rich as those but are very happy...most people fail to understand that happiness is much more important than wealth;why because, when you are happy you are rich and strong....no doubt money is also very very important because money gets you food, shelter and evry thing you need...but if money cannot buy happiness then money cannot buy evrything..seek happiness and money will come..sweet post

Absolutely there is no connection between happiness and wealth, The most happy people i find and though most of them are rich, turns out they were very happy before they even got rich.
Happiness is so subjective. And some people say it's say kind of a skill that you learn.
To some extent i agree. When we learn and accept other things we become free enough to be happy

i like your content and photos. essential and important info.
thanks for sharing

Correct Bro @amiramnoam. We need money for survive but Money can't give us inner peace that we all want.

@amiramnoam this is bitter truth money never get you everything. The more you get yourself into earning, the more you get farther from everyone, family friends, relative.

It’s More Important to Be Happy Than to Be Rich. Thanks for the great post @amiramnoam
Happiness, not gold or prestige, is the ultimate currency.

A great post indeed..Of course happiness comes first. No a days people give importance to money but i prefer family. If you had a caring and loving family. Then you had happiness of all world.

I really think it does not matter what you know to become rich, because if you just know bitcoin is going to make you a lot of money and it comes fast you just focus on making it, good point.

Thank you for this article. I'll be using this to send to people asking me the exact same questions.

Interesting post and the content is good. Thanks.

@amiramnoam - You are absolutely correct my friend.

Good stroy bro thank you for sharing

Agree, my boss is very rich but I think I’ve never seen him laugh since I work for him.
What’s truly important is your mental attitude, if you stay positive you will always be happy with your life.

must prepare all are mature, nice posting
Thank you for sharing

Wealth is definitely helpful in obtaining happiness, you don't have to be wealthy to be happy, but if you don't have financial problems this sure helps, this reduces stress in your life. Of course there are more important things but you have a better outlook if your belly is full than if it isn't.

This is truly interesting and convincing ! Absolutely, there is no connection between money and happiness. Money is not everything it is just a basic thing used to make life comfortable. Thank for sharing my friend !!👍👍👍 Totally agree with your view !

@amiramnoam Agree with the phrase there is no connection between wealth and happiness. We can be happy for our daily lives, its just a matter of choosing to be happy or be greedy. I have read a story when I was little, a man once win a lottery contest. The man win a million dollar but all of his friends was shocked when he say that he was regretting, if he wins the next day maybe he'll win more than a million. Many people don't just thank for the gift they have received. It's the nature of humans not to be satisfied on what we have and always ask for more. Always asking for the things we don't have. Even we receive what we wish for the next day we will wish for another more. We can be happy even we don't have money, we can be happy even we don't have food to eat, we can be happy even we have no house to live in. Let's just thank that we are alive today even having nothing in our hands. As long as were alive, smile and keep moving forward
