It's quite disheartening to hear some people refer to life as a dream. To say that "life is a dream" is an huge understatement. This saying can only be true if you haven't discovered purpose.
I vividly recall some past experience I had concerning this same saying. While in high school, I never saw the need to compete with anyone for anything, therefore,I didn't exactly put my best into my studies. Needless to say, I wasn't top of the class.
This was due to my mentality at the time. I hadn't discovered my real self,I kept living each day as a dream. I believed that I was just recalling past experiences of events that had occurred at some past time, a form of deja vu. Some might laugh at this and call me stupid or foolish.
What you think doesn't really concern me.A man without purpose is the sort of man who calls life a dream. To a man who has a vision, that vision will serve as a driving force to a mission and such a mission will always bring forth the reality of life, which is purpose. Returning to my story about myself, reality hit me during my senior year in high school. I began to see the real me, I saw that I could study and excel, address a crowd, stop being shy, etc. I woke up from my dream and began walking into the reality of my revelation. I found purpose and I woke up. You can't afford to continue living your life as a dream. If you continue perceiving life as a dream, other people will keep getting successful , while you'll remain stagnant.
Rise up to life, and seize all the opportunities it has to offer.

Excellent post @alphailluminatus very interesting and excellent point of view.
Life is like consuming an orange, you have to overcome the acid of the peel and then appreciate the sweetness of the fruit.
