Domestic Violence refers to the willful intimidation, battery, physical assault, sexual and/or other abusive behaviour as part of a systematic pattern of power and control perpetrated by one intimate partner against another. Domestic violence may include emotional abuse, domestic violence,psychological violence and sexual violence. In human history, the men have always been believed to be the perpetrators of domestic violence, thereby allowing almost no activity against domestic abuse against them. However, recent findings have also shown that females also engage in domestic violence. Some might say this is as a result of increase in activities supporting feminism. However, I believe this s not the truth. Domestic violence might have prevailed through the ages but was relatively unheard of due to the fact that men have always wanted to prove their supremacy over their home and reporting a case of being abused their wives would have made them seem weak and incapable of controlling their home. Domestic violence by females is now quite common and there are stories of females abusing their husbands. In the last seven years, the number of women convicted of domestic violence against their partners has more than doubled.
Certain statistics show that one in three victims of domestic abuse is a man. Others also say that that one in fourteen men are abused by his wife. This may pale in comparison with that of women in that one in four women is abused by her husband. However, all the sympathy goes to the women,every programs concerning gender this days caters for the women. It's time people started facing the men. Men are also humans and have feelings, they should stop being all painted as the bad guys.
I'm not supporting any gender perpetrating domestic violence.It is a vice which needs to be curbed in the human society.
