A Short Story sharing a Memory!
Back when I was about 5 years old maybe as I can remember, abaka was abundant at my Grandparents place.
My grandfather used to harvest Abaka as shown below. Manually and the image below was using machine but my lolo used the manual way of making thread.

But this photo were just a memory now. Most of area in Southern Leyte were infested with bugs that kills the Abaka plants. Now, there were very few area that abaka was being planted again but unlike before that it was very abundant.
I can remember back in those time that people were busy everyday harvesting Abaka and worry not of having no money. Now, the people here rely much on Coconut tree. Others in making coal from coconut shell that pumps the price to almost $2 per kilo.
