Getting caught in a lie is a bit harder in this day and age, but there are still plenty of dishonest hyenas out there. Just about anyone can shoot off a quick lie in a simple text message, and there’s no way you can tell they’re lying. Or is there?
There are actually quite a few pretty obvious giveaways that a text message is less than honest. Here are some things to look out for!
THREE SIMPLE WORDS
![lead_960-1513496246884.jpg]
()
Les Films du Losange
Sometimes the words we use betray our integrity. For instance, women who use the words “I”, “try”, and “probably” consistently are lying through their teeth.
THE WAITING GAME
Universal Pictures
The “crazy” girlfriend who asks why it took you 10 minutes to respond to her text might actually be onto something. Liars will postpone responding while they cook up a story.
CHANGE OF PACE
Splash
If someone is trying to change the subject in a text conversation, be concerned. People that do this are trying to avoid spilling the truth about the original subject.
I’LL POINT YOU TO THE MIRROR
Ronald Martinez
Liars will often point the finger at their accusers in order to turn the tables. Just think back to the old saying, “When you point one finger, there are three fingers pointing back to you.”
YOU UPSET ME, BABY
Bravo TV
One thing that liars tend to do is question whether or not you’ll get upset by their answer. By doing this, they’ll have the upper hand in the scenario.
SICK AS A DOG
Christopher Peterson
Remember pretending to be sick to get out of work? A lot of fibbers do this in order to get out of a tough situation.
LET THE GUILT GO
Fox
Guilt trips are horrendous when it comes to making someone feel shame. Whenever liars get asked questions they’re not fond of, they use this tactic.
RIGHT HERE WAITING
CBS
We’ve all been there. You send a text and get continuous notifications that the receiver is typing. They could be trying to reword their lie in order to make it more believable.
REPEAT, I REPEAT, REPEAT
Thomas Niedermueller
Restating “facts” over and over in a conversation could be evidence of dishonesty. People that tend to say the same thing twice in texts have a secret .
THE LONG AND WINDING TEXT
Bobby Bank
Some people like being a bit more informative than others. Long texts are usually considered lies compared to the average six- or seven-word text.
