You nailed it. I believe that studies have been done on the accuracy of eye-witness accounts, where they discovered just about everybody remembered things differently from one another, including colors, physical descriptions, etc... . Over time, we also get false memory syndrome kicking in, where people believe things happened to them that never did. Memory is very tricky.
