When I was growing up my parents fostered kids on a short term basis. I lived with 17 foster kids over 7 years. My parents wanted to give back to the community but didn't want more kids of their own. It was hard work because often the kids would have behavioural problems. However the positives outweighed the negatives as the kids left in a better position then when they arrived.
