Getting over an ex is hard, I know it’s hard because I have had break-ups which damn near made me unable to get out of bed. The depression can be hard to deal with when you feel so deeply for the person. But, with time the pain goes away, and you find yourself thinking less about them, which is amazing.
There are things you can do to busy your mind to quicken the process, from a new hobby, spending time with loved ones, focus on career or school.
All this acts as a distraction for your mind but when you are alone with your thoughts and feelings it isn't always easy.
What I am about to share with you is scientifically certified. Yep, if you give it a chance you’ll see results.
Why does it work?
Our brain is very complex, it perceives the inner and outer world as the same thing. Athletes use this to their advantage in the form of visualisation; they train in the mind and on the track.
Nicola Tesla (the man to thank for everything wireless), used to visualise all his experiments before he put them on paper. That’s freaking amazing, I wish I could do that.
To mentally get rid of your ex-boyfriend/girlfriend you will be using the power of visualisation and action.
What action will you be taking?
A study conducted by researcher Richard titled “Thoughts as Material Objects Can Increase or Decrease Their Impact on Evaluation,” found that the action of throwing away the letter represents throwing away those intangible feelings.
Petty states: “At some level, it can sound silly. But we found that it really works — by physically throwing away or protecting your thoughts, you influence how you end up using those thoughts,”
The participants in the study were high school students with a poor self-image. They were asked to hand-write all their negative thoughts about themselves on a piece of paper then read it a few times. Then the group was divided into two. One group was told to throw the paper in the bin. The other group was made to keep it.
The group which threw the paper away reported feeling better about themselves, while the other group reported no change. My opinion is that this is a cathartic experience which aids in letting go of negative thoughts.
This is why it works so well, like giving something back to your ex-boyfriend/girlfriend clear them from your life.
If you’ve tried blocking them on WhatsApp. Facebook. Instagram, and other social media platforms but still get the urge to stalk them, this is especially good for you.
Or…
You think about them so much that you can’t concentrate on work, school, family, basically anything that will make you feel like a normal human.
Try this.
The steps:
Write a letter to the person saying all the things you would have liked to have said to them but did not get the chance to.
When you have finished you will need to read the letter aloud several times.
Then bin it.
I suggest doing this for 3 days, then visualising the act for a few days to give it a lot more power.
There you have it, try this then share your experience here so that others' may benefit. :-)
