For those of you who want to follow and understand the development and role of Facebook's Libra coin and how it's different from Bitcoin - here is a great short interview on the subject, with Erik Voorhees, founder of Shapeshift.
Facebook's coin is competing more with banks than with Bitcoin. And in this quest of disrupting and modernizing our financial system, Bitcoin and Libra are actually sort of allies for now. For now.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend
Bitcoin and its community have been too small to really challenge the system so far, that's why not much has changed over the past 10 years. But now, here comes Facebook with its 2 billion users, which does make the central banks and governments quite uncomfortable now.
So they sent an open letter and asked Facebook to stop... This letter is being discussed in this interview as well as the fact how Libra coin could be good for the crypto space.
Let's see if the powers that be can stop Facebook, or if Libra could trigger the biggest shift in our financial system we have ever seen.
am i mistaken ordoes Libra rather work like Steem than Bitcoin (witness -> validators)
I did not bother to read the white paper but it could be, with their 21 partners. It definitely doesn't work like Bitcoin :D
