California is also the biggest state in the United States and we have a lot of big businesses, such as Apple and the rest of Silicon Valley that pay high taxes for these things. Even if we didn't have big technology, I would happily pay a premium to live in California over Texas.

Sort:  

California has Hollywood, Silicon Valley, and world-renowned Wine Region. The GDP is amazing. But you're being fleeced.

Imagine the costs being levied by the above agencies. There is a Hidden Cost of Regulation.

Sure you see it as a premium because California is nice, and trust me, I won't argue with the weather. It's glorious.

Just imagine how much of your own wealth you could be keeping without the regulatory burden.

Exactly, there's a lot of money that flows in and out of CA. I agree that the CA government has way too many rules and committees set up, but that's also because it's fricking huge.
