Work, Work, Work.

in #liberty3 years ago

The definition of work is loose in modern culture. I work my job, which is defined as managing a retail business. I work with the Libertarian Party, which means I live a principaled life to show others Liberty as well as putting forth an effort to grow the party. I work within the community to share ideas and help others. I work to understand the intricacies of modern society culture. I work to maintain interpersonal relationships and mutual benefits to those closest to me. I work to understand and use more cryptocurrencies and the tech that powers them. I work A LOT.

As a fat lazy American, I feel that we often lose sight of our privilege and how good we got it.

A few nights ago, myself and a few others met to discuss social, political, and economic ideas and theories that govern our lifestyles. An immigrant spoke up and explained that he loved capitalism and he loved America because he's worked his ass off to provide an astounding life for himself and his family. He spoke on living conditions and how even the worst of America that he's seen is better than many areas of his origin country.

So easily we forget how good we have it. We so easily find it hard to be humble. We are privileged. There are so many resources available to those who seek and work for them.

It's so easy to find what's wrong and so easy to be scared of a dystopian hellscape of a future that we forget how many humans don't have access to clean water and flushing toilets.

We love to think America sucks and that we are downtrodden when there are people worldwide starving to death while we eat ourselves to death.

I just got humbled, y'all.

Does that I mean that I won't work to create even more opportunity in my community or effect change in my community? Of course not. I just need to remember that even if I fail, my life is exponentially better than many lives globally.
