First sunrays after 2 months - natural Vitamin D

January 22nd 2016, Troms county in northern Norway.

After 2 months of polar night, fascinating dark period without any sunshine here far behind the arctic circle, the "days" are getting a bit longer again (cca 4 hours) and  we are going up to the summit of icy Tromsdalstinden to greet the sun again. The only chance to see the sun is to go very high. It is very cold today, about 24 below zero and quite windy. My nose is freezing badly, but I do not feel any pain. I am in the "zone", absolute present moment... The air is crystal clear and visibility enormous. and the Nature around... Amazing feeling of being free, impossible to describe, you have to try yourselv.

500m below the summit, suddenly... Ohh... Finally!!! We see the yellow light again. Just for a few precious minutes, but we do... What a feeling, to feel "ordinary" sun after 2 months of darkness on your face for a few minutes again... Priceless... Natural Vitamin D starts to get produced in my body again, finally, I can feel the new energy  immediately.

It is Monday, no people anywhere around, we are on the highest mountain, so we won the imaginary jackpot this year, we are the first people from the whole area to see the sun again :-)  People down in the valley of Tromso have to wait about one more week to see the first sunrays again. What an amazing dimension of feeling alive, here in the far North... No rush, no stress, no polution, just you and the purest scandinavian Nature...

After the most amazing skiing I ever experienced, we get back down to the car. It is dark again, but the fascinating natural show continues... I so much love North...

Beautiful! I work in the far north of the Canadian Arctic, and highly recommend anyone to spend some time up north. The feeling in the Arctic is different from anywhere else, so expansive yet isolating. I spent last winter in Cambridge bay, Victoria island, Nunavut, what an extreme existence for those people still. Hared to fathom until you feel it for yourself! thanks for sharing!

Beautiful I have never seen the Northern Lights. Definitely on my to-do list.

You shall definitely try it, very strong experience.... thank you :-)

Wow, what an experience. I am bit jealous here... :-)

Well, then there is only one answer... Pack the car and go... We meet there :-)
