Next Month's Startup Societies Summit in San Francisco: Ticket Purchased! + Some Thoughts RE: Detroit

in #libertarian7 years ago

So.. Steemit is basically amazing. A couple of weeks ago through some happenstance, I learned about an ideology called "Cooperative Agorism" via @the-ego-is-you, and listened to a Tom Woods show podcast he had posted that featured an interview with Joe McKinney, CEO and Co-Founded of Startup Societies Foundation.

I went to check out their website, and lo and behold, they are having a huge shindig just across the puddle from me next month!

WHAT IS THE STARTUP SOCIETIES SUMMIT?
The Startup Societies Summit is a trade show for "startup societies" or small experimental governments such as smart cities, special economic zones, eco-villages, micro states, intentional communities, and even "seasteading".

Lots of exciting speakers including Max Marty of blueseed.com, John Mcafee, Tom Reed of State of Jefferson, Brock Pierce of Bitcoin Foundation, and so many more.

There are a lot of talks scheduled about Startup Societies/Cities, Special Economic Zones, Secession, Sea Steading, and Decentralization. It seems like a great follow-up to the disintermediation focused symposium in Marfa last month!

HOWEVER, there is one thing that I was really hoping to find on the agenda that is simply missing! And that is:

What can we do to work towards establishing an official Special Economic Zone in America?

As Goes Detroit, So Goes the Nation

If no one else is going to ask the question about establishing a Special Economic Zone in America, I will. Specifically, What can we do to establish an official Special Economic Zone in Detroit?

It's going to be great fun, folks. Imagine the best and the baddest innovative, disruptive, liberty minded folks turning Detroit into a massive incubator. Oh, the possibilities... I will be writing more about this... but in the meantime, my campaign to start building a coalition to manifest this begins Monday.

I had to provide a Title and Company when I bought my ticket to the summit in SF. Going under the banner of my consumer goods startup didn't seem quite right, so I have taken the title of Rapscallion for this event; I shall strive to live up to my nickname, 'Trouble' ;)

Any question requests for any of the speakers? I can give it a shot!
Maybe I'll even see some fellow Steemians there!
