President Lee Jae-myung said regarding the expansion of the transmission and distribution network, "I think it is a good idea to create a national fund to guarantee a certain profit, give the people an investment opportunity, and quickly open it on a large scale."
President Lee made the proposal today (17th), asking Kim Dong-cheol, president of Korea Electric Power Corporation, to expand the transmission and distribution network at the Ministry of Climate, Energy, and Environment and affiliated organizations in Sejong City.
When President Kim said he expects to spend 113 trillion won by 2038, President Lee pointed out, "Isn't there no way for KEPCO to raise it now, and it won't be right to owe another 100 trillion won."
"It's hard to do it with KEPCO money, but KEPCO has no choice but to use it anyway, and the rate will be set at a level that the government does not lose," he said. "Where in the world is there such a safe investment?"

Meanwhile, President Lee asked a number of questions about the nuclear power plant policy and told people who are not affiliated with a political party to answer.
President Lee asked, "How long does it take to build a nuclear power plant from now on?" and Kim Sung-hwan, the Minister of Climate, Energy, and Environment, replied, "It actually takes about 10 to 15 years."
In response, President Lee said, "When I said that last time, they said no, it's been 7 years," and added, "I can't believe Minister Kim because he is also a Democratic Party, and each party has different arguments, so someone other than the party should tell me."
President Lee said, "The nuclear power plant policy has become like a political agenda," and pointed out, "There is no serious discussion about efficiency or validity, and there is a fight between sides."
He said, "Why are you dividing my side and yours when we're having a science debate?" and added, "It's a funny phenomenon that our society often distributes things that are not true as we just eat and fight without discussion."
President Lee said, "Why are you covering your side for me when you're talking about everything you have and scientific arguments?" and pointed out, "But strangely, scientists are on their side."
