The Presidential Office announced on the 7th that it has filed charges of false accusation against Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, and other related members.
In a notice issued by the spokesperson's office, the Presidential Office stated, "On January 3rd, the Democratic Party's Legal Committee filed charges of rebellion against Chief of Staff Jeong Jin-seok, National Security Office Director Shin Won-sik, Senior Secretary for Civil Affairs Kim Joo-hyun, Deputy Director of the National Security Office In Seong-hwan, and Defense Secretary Choi Byung-ok. However, the five mentioned individuals did not conspire in advance regarding the declaration of martial law, nor did they conduct any legal review related to martial law."
The notice continued, "The accused reported false information to the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) with the intention of subjecting them to criminal punishment, severely damaging the reputation of both the individuals and the Presidential Office, which constitutes false accusation. The Presidential Office strongly regrets the Democratic Party's dissemination of false information and acts of false accusation."
