Letting No Money Left On The Table

As a business man or woman do you know how unwise it is to leave money on the table? No matter how small it is? Last week I went to barbing saloon to get a haircut, he was talking about how not everyone can afford his haircut price, he charges let’s say $15 but some people come and tell him that they want a haircut but they don’t have $15 they have $10. He can’t tell them to go and reject the $10 if does that, that is leaving $10 on the table. He is a professional, he takes him less than 20 minutes to give a haircut, if you can’t afford $15 for the haircut, come back when he is free and get a haircut for $10. It’s still feels like an extra money to him, it’s not the acceptable price but it’s part of the money not left on the table.

Some people make that mistake of leaving money on the table based on pride, don’t get me wrong, it’s not all goods and services you should provide when underpriced. Because, there are some goods and services that cost a lot to provide, so if you are accepting lower payments, you are cheating yourself. But quick services like giving a haircut, consulting, social media influencing, generally any service that requires little time of your skill, that won’t cost you.

I once saw a vehicle driving to my destination, I stopped the vehicle, and tried to bargain a fair price with the driver. He refused, I reminded the driver that this money can be considered free money because with me or without me as his passenger he is still going to get to my destination. He can either get to my destination with me inside having extra money or continue without me without some money. He took the second option because of pride. I waited and saw a vehicle that agreed to take me to the destination because he agreed that it’s free money. I got to my destination and saw the man that refused to drive me to the destination. This just thought me something about life and decisions, especially when it concerns money. Some people would rather go with none and starve than settle for half bread.
