I think the content length kind of depends... for example... unless you are going to do more posts as follow up, sometimes its not logical to cut things down if the content looses the point.

But mostly format quite helps. Especially on longer posts yes...

I personally prefer content around the min read (but because I read slow). Although depending on the complexity of the message is targeted towards, sometimes it feels ok reading loads of time. :P
