New Hive-enabled site inji.com! First impressions and feedback

in #leo3 years ago (edited)

inji.com, nice domain. Take on Twitter and beat it.

Some UI feedback:

The settings dialog on the new post screen could use some hover-over explanation. I don't know what Distribute rewards means or what enabling LEO Finance will do. I've enabled it to see. And the "Use" one seems like an artifact or placeholder. I clicked Go to Settings but it wants to discard my post if I do. If there's an option to go to settings in a new post, it shouldn't abandon what's been written.

The category selection drop down menu on the new post screen only displays two categories with no scrolling on a 1080P monitor. And you can search for categories but can't make your own. Let's see what hashtags do: #feedback

Other than that the UI is nice and slick. Really nicely designed without being a copy of something else. Hive integration looks good. This is really nice to see!

Now here's a test to see what happens to the inji post if I edit it on Hive. Here's the link to the inji post by the way: https://inji.com/@pfunk/p-19g65xkum52g9u8b520fae4bf3daa3

I’m not one of the few that can use it (yet).

I like the idea of limiting posts but it seems like there should be a slightly higher limit for commenting. Limiting posts takes the focus off of self but it feels like one-two comments a day will lead to a lack of conversation. (Unless you write a novel.)

What do you think?

It’s probably a great way to limit social media addiction.

My initial thought was the same, comment limiting might be counter-productive, especially with lots of engagement from multiple people. But who knows, Twitter's character limit seemed silly to me when it came out and look at what it became. Limiting comments to 3/day (if no posts are made) might just do something counter-intuitive.

did you test what happens if you check use comments instead posts? :)

looks nice, i didn't click on a lot of things. was wondering how you use hive votes, but i seen that emojis are different % of vote power.

Not yet, I didn't have enough mana to make another post. I'll see what that's like when I do.

Haha!! When I saw this title I thought "is this Injinji"....? (they make my ultra running toe socks) Hahahaaaa.... ;)

Kinda glad to see a name that rings a bell here. I haven't been around for years and steemit has changed, I didn't even know of Hive till a month ago.

Hey, welcome back! Glad you found your way here. Steemit hasn't just changed, it became entirely criminal, stealing people's tokens including mine.

That is crazy, how are they getting that right? I'm glad I am here then.

is this some kind of account protection? I've also tried it, but I don't understand why it's activated and I go back to the original settings because I don't dare to try it.

This is a new social media site that integrates Hive, just released today, made by @therealwolf. Currently only accounts with more than 10,000 HIVE Power are able to use it for testing, but that will change soon and everyone will be able to use it. See this post: /inji/@therealwolf/10102021-welcome-to-inji

You are working on this ?

Ok now that I can see what the post did, looks like enabling the LEO Finance switch posts it with the #LEO tag as the first tag. It's not posted in the LEO community though, probably a good thing for this post but not necessarily for someone looking to do that.

It also posts to with the #inji and #hive-123456 (inji community) tags. Using the community tag anywhere but first falls outside the standard for community posts, as can be seen here: https://peakd.com/created/hive-123456

Viewed on other Hive front ends, the post has no title.

The hashtag worked to put it in an arbitrary category.

Unfortunately it seems like the image I uploaded by pasting from clipboard got cropped. And it appears above the text on other Hive front ends while it appears below the text on inji, and that's how the post preview showed it too.

The above text was just within the character limit, although I couldn't post it with inji. It said I didn't have enough mana, even though I used 70 for the post and should have had 30 left over for a comment. Right now it says I have 21 mana.

  • leo tag: it should be posted to leofinance. Did they change their requirements?
  • community tag: forgot about that. Fixing.
  • title: did you add a title?
  • image below text: that was a design decision, similar how tweets always have the image below the text.
  • 21 mana: I forgot that image uploading had a 10 mana cost attached to it. Disabled it. Your post + media costed 70 + 10 mana.
  • character limit: I tried to keep it reasonable. I find Twitter's to be too restrictive. I guess the question would be the use-case, I'd prefer to keep it on the lower-spectrum for now, but I'm interested in thoughts/experiences over the next few days/weeks.

Your feedback is much appreciated! 🙏

LEO tag, yep you're right it gets posted there

Re: title, by default there wasn't a title field because I hadn't enabled Hive posting, and didn't notice the field had appeared after.

Yeah it makes sense to put the image below, but the post appears differently on Hive because the image link is put first in the post transaction.

I have no complaints about the character limit, only mentioned it if it had something to do with not having enough mana but that mystery is solved.

buy inji plus - with paypal only. lmao

Hehe. I've limited it to PayPaypal for accounting purposes only rn. The code for HIVE and other crypto payments is already written, just not active yet.

good to hear! perhaps offer a discounted yearly package too?

There is actually. Did you notice or isn't it clear enough?

Thanks for the feedback!

  • settings ui: I'll see what I can do there. I could theoretically just reuse the UI from the settings page including descriptions. Or keep it minimalisting with small description & add post archiving.
  • category 1080p: I'll check!
  • image cropping: yes, I've got to improve that. Very basic rn. It's cropping and reducing size, which doesn't look nice.

Not sure why you had to unfollow and be so incredibly rude because I decided to crosspost on Steem. I am not part of their team, just am a user occasionally of both and seem like you took to attacking my personal page. Seems quite low of you. I just try to make content that's interesting and fun.

I'm not attacking anything, just letting you know where I stand with people that cross post to a network that stole thousands of my STEEM tokens, taken over and run by thieves. I hope you understand why I wouldn't want to upvote anyone doing that.

Okay, so you must comment on every single persons post who use Facebook, Instagram, and other social media websites. I am not affiliated with steem, so again I ask, why post on that on my page and unfollow when I actually did nothing wrong and don't even have to do what you are talking about. If you have an issue like stolen tokens, that's a legal issue that you can take up with the law, and not take it out on an innocent user. But I shouldn't be telling you this, it seems you should already know. But I do NOT appreciate you coming to my page trying to say I'm doing something wrong by crossposting. In fact, everyone should be crossposting for their own best interests in mind.

I'm letting you know. And it seems in this instance, crossposting to a scam network isn't serving your interests much at all.

Hello! Why are you voting against my posts?

For collaboration with the Steemit crime organization.

Many members have accounts on both steemit and hive. I wrote the text and took a photo especially for hive!

Some time ago, maybe still, you collaborated with them on Steem after they had stolen the network, and stolen many users' funds. Including mine. I still don't have my tokens back. So anyone who collaborated or collaborates with the criminals gets my downvote.

If you're here because the price of HIVE has eclipsed STEEM and hope to benefit from that, well, you bet on the wrong horse.

I am here because there are many of my friends with whom I communicated even before the separation. I left Stimit in 2018 and when I was called back there, I was not aware of the separation and its reasons. Your funds were not stolen by ordinary users, not me. I understand your position and I am sorry that this happened. All the best!:)

You were there when Steem was stolen and subsequently collaborated with the thieves.

If someone was in the bank during the hostage-taking, is he also a criminal? :)

Thanks 🤗🤗

@pfunk - I am not a great fan of Twitter, especially so now after You know Who took it over. I hope Inji picks up and becomes a great alternative. Looks like it has some bugs at the moment but I am sure it will become a good platform. Will definitely check it out.

PS- Oops - noticed now that I am commenting on a very old post. Just came across it while browsing. Sorry if I bothered you on an old subject.

No worries! We'll see where Elon's Twitter goes. My point of view is there's some potential for it to go better, but ultimately these platforms being in corporate or unilateral private hands is a problem and we're part of the solution here.

Merry Everyday Maaaaaate! Thanks @pfunk for your kind support! Often my posts have absolutely zer0 vote$ without you! I want ya to know it's always encouraging that even tho few people are watching, ....at least you're here 😋 Love yaaaaaa!

Hey Merry Everyday to you too man. What are you planning for New Year's Eve?
