The kindest of takes no doubt, would be to say that Hailey Welch was simply manipulated into scamming his own followers, but I tend to think the "I'm just a dumb blonde" thing is part of the game.
People who've been in this space for a while know that every bull cycle there's always some novelty thing, some fuel, if you will, pushing the markets upwards. These "revolutionary ideas" are for all intent and purposes casino games that eventually blow up, but the gambling addiction of people in this space is nothing to joke about.
When this whole memecoin became a thing, I, like I'm sure other survivors of the bear markets of the past, saw it for what it truly is. Thew new ICO crazy, the new NFT, the new Bitcoin Fork, etc, etc.
A younger version of me would have made an attempt to "educate" (as if I ever could) people on the perils of these gambles, but past experience has taught me that such warning calls are pointless.
All that being said; When Hawk Tuah decided to launch her token, I saw what could only be described as the culmination of her 15 minutes of fame. The token launched, went nuclear and then collapsed into nothingness to nobody's surprise.
As of me writing this short post of mine, Hawk Tuah is a no show. Weeks have gone by. There are no new podcast episodes, no tweets, nothing.
It would not surprise me to find out she's moved all her "earnings" into Cayman Islands by now, and is probably getting ready to move to a tiny country herself. The amount of money she just pocketed would make Elon's left eyebrow raise two inches.
Yet... there are people out there right now, serious people, it seems, who are shocked... Shocked!
Another bull cycle, another scammer... What else is there to say?
MenO
I still have no idea who she is, but I saw this story. FOMO is a powerful force and people think that memecoins may make them some money. Well it may make a very few people some money. When crypto gets condemned as a ponzi/pyramid then this is what they mean.
she became famous for a short viral video about how to perform oral, and that lead to her getting a podcast among other inexplicable things.
Ah, 15 minutes of fame :)
