My learning experience

in #learning8 years ago (edited)

Learning has always been a learning experience for me, if that makes since.Whether it be working on projects or trying to learning a new skill, I approached each task in a similar way.

I for one am the type of person that used to like to chunk everything into a couple of time slots within my day trying to finish what I set out to accomplish and if I didn't, I would wait until the next day. This strategy isn't exactly intuitive for learning multiple things, but I wanted to share what I've learned from my constant experience of learning.

Learning

  1. Take things slow
We may aspire to be like the geniuses we see on TV, or read in books, but we tend to miss the fact that most of the well known geniuses spend a plethora of time working on their craft. (An interesting read, if you haven't yet read it is Malcolm Gladwell's Outliers)

  2. It's ok to take a break
After an hour or two of constant drilling into whatever you want to learn, taking a break to meditate or rest is totally cool. I actually am able to retain more information after a break, where I just reflect on what I was just working on. Some of my best ideas have come from taking a walk after working long on a tedious project where I thought I was stuck in a hole.

  3. Find some venue to share
Sharing actually helps you learn in a way that I wouldn't have thought it would. Whenever I tell anyone what I am doing, it actually helps me generate new ideas or connect my thoughts.

  4. Most importantly, Have fun
If you truly do not enjoy what you are learning, can you truly learn to your best ability.

I hope you all are enjoying steem. I for one am enjoying the ever growing community.
