People today are desperate for leadership positions, but most of them lack the qualities that qualifies them to be good leaders. (Though, these qualities can be learned) If you want to become someone who can positively influence other people, you need to develop the following qualities or characters and live them out every day.
A good leader must be trustworthy. And to be trustworthy, your words and action must sync. That's like a good musical composition.
We all have weaknesses and if you are honest with people and admit your weaknesses, they will appreciate your honesty and integrity.
Admitting your weaknesses is never a sign of weakness or self defeat. It helps you become better and people will be able to relate with you better. Of course, people eventually find out about your flaws, even if you try to hide them. So, why not admit.
As a leader or one who want to be a leader, giving yourself and your time to others shows that you care about them. Leaders are to serve and not there to be served.
Never promise anything you cannot deliver. And when you say you'll do something, follow through on it.
A quick way to break trust with others is to fail to fulfill your commitments. When you live a life of integrity, people listen to you and follow you.
Let me borrow words from Zig Ziglar that says: Help enough other people to succeed, and you will succeed also. A good leader supports other team members and basically puts others first.
A good leader isn't driven by ego, jealousy, or the belief that he or she is better than others. Don't try to manipulate others.
Some are born leaders, others learn to be leaders. There's no excuse for mediocrity.
