Hello my dear steemians, how your day going? I hope you guys are all enjoying it here on steemit. Your bae @dhorllypee is here again as usual to write on the above title. First and foremost language is a well known communication around the whole world, God has made and given us different types of languages in which we can use to communicate to ourselves. We have different types of Nigeria languages today which are yoruba, hausa, igbo, efik, igala, tiv, urohobo, fulani etc. Most of our children don't know how to speak their mothers tongue which is very bad.
Why children are unable to speak their native language
Upbringing: The way the child is being brought up from the very beginning can cause him or her not know her mothers tongue.
Environment issues: The environment in which the child stays, the kind of friends they move with. Most parents don't like taking their children to the villages where they themselves were brought up, because they wont want any of their kids to have a spiritual problem or skin disease, not knowing that is where they can learn it fast.
Insight contribution
Most parents belief that when the child is use to his mother tongue their english will be totally poor YES,
Using myself as an example, the way my parents brought me up they usually speak english to us and we were used to it that was when i was still with them, but the moment i changed environment when i entered higher institution seeing my mates speaking yoruba and i will be replying them in english they will be like na only me sabi speak grammar at the same time making jest of me, thanks to my roommate not that they sat me down to teach me it is something i hear everyday and before i knew it i started speaking a little but still not fluent, i stayed with my grandparents and my language increased more so a times i use the two together mixture of english and yoruba.
In conclusion
Lovely steemians out there, especially to those who are parents and to those outside just a little piece of advice, if we want our children above us let us teach them our mother tongue, let them know it not all the time we speak english to them, lets make them know it so it can stick to their brains.
Thanks for reading wonderful steemians, i still remain your writer @dhorllypee.
