There are plenty of examples how people are trying to manipulate the meaning of a word during a longer period of time - basically then finally transforming the original concept to be seen as something completely different.

Luckily (?) this requires that long work behind it and it's rare to see language being manipulated in a short period of time, but at the same point it becomes extremely difficult to change a word back to a more suitable tone. Like it'd be difficult to get capitalism sound good for the general public.
