Parts of the damaged forest. My best guess it was done by windstorm, which uncleared, at least in the past, have caused serious bark beetle outbreaks in the region. Dead wood is a feast for wood eating insects, which results in a population outbreak and infection of nearby healthy woods.
This looks brutal. I've never seen something like this in real life.
Yeah, I've never seen anything like this before last year I visited Tatra National Park in Poland. Sadly this year I went to the same park from Slovakia side and it was even worse. It's probably simply too expensive to clean the forest at that altitude.
