I've often heard men during an event and seen them sitting with their friends at a round table at a restaurant or bar, gisting, with robust energy and appetite discuss the various things they believe about women. Sometimes, they say with full confidence of being right in their ways, disregarding any other opinions that don't suit their own.
What they usually discuss hurts and cuts through at times like a knife pierced through the heart.
"Don't mind all these women, what do they know?", I once heard a pot-bellied man say when I went on an errand.
Mr. Dike, a known man in my street has cautioned his friend several times with these words, "Why are you wasting your money on that girl, every all the money you will spend, she will still end up in one kitchen", because his friends gave birth to 5 girls.
I paid her bride price, and I am free to do as I please
I can't count how many times I've heard this statement. Men believe that they have the right to do as they please just because they have paid and done the necessary traditional customs.
For some it is the situation of, If I tell you to jump, ask me how high, If I ask for any meal, prepare it and serve me. I don't care how you do it. They expect their wives to serve them non-stop forgetting that she is also a human being.
It is also not uncommon to hear, "I paid her bride price, so she is my property to do as I please". He believes that the should woman automatically be available at all times.
Women's Opinions don't count
Have you ever been in a situation where you are among a group of men seeking an answer to a problem, and when you give your opinion, they brush it off like you don't know what you are saying? I have! And the feeling is painful. Currently, some men have come to value the opinion of women around them knowing that women could have the solution to a long-term problem.
Men are in charge of making money, and women are in charge of taking care of the home
Some men believe that a woman should not be concerned about working but to focus on taking care of the home alone. Even in the 21st century, it is appalling the way their mind works. Women should be rendered a helping hand with home chores, no matter how small they may seem. Some even refuse to find an assistant for the women, when the women will go out to work, come back tired, and will still enter the kitchen to prepare meals and clean up the house and the kids without help leaving the woman exhausted every day.
A woman is not a maid, she has dreams, visions, and goals she also aspires to achieve. Being a wife or taking care of the home is not where a woman's career end.
There's more to being a woman.
What lies have you heard that men believe?
