비트코인과 만나다! 3년 전 고벤처포럼에서 #02 / Meet ‘Bitcoin’(BTC)! 3 years ago, in Go-venture Korea #02

안녕하세요. 코치텐입니다. 오늘은 비트코인과 처음 만났던 3년 전 이야기를 해볼까 합니다. 그 당시에 비트코인 가격이 25만 원 정도였던 걸로 기억하는데, 지금 가격이 2000만 원 대니까 와! 거의 X10배 이상 가치가 상승했네요.

Hello, Guys. This is Coach Ten. Today, I will give you a story which first I met ‘Bitcoin’ 3 years ago. at that time, the price of Bitcoin was about 230$, but now it is about 18,000$. It means that it increased almost 10 times. amazing, isn’t it?

만약 그 당시에 조금만 더 똑똑했고, 조금만 더 마음을 열고 있었다면, 지금쯤 부자가 되었을 텐데요... 인생의 큰 기회를 놓쳤던 그때를 생각하면 너무 아쉽지만, 그래도 아직 늦지 않았습니다. 왜냐하면 여전히 많은 분들이 그 당시 저처럼 블록체인(비트코인)에 대해 잘 모르고 있기 때문입니다. 즉, 지금을 3년 전 그때로 생각하고 다시 시작하면, 향후 3년 후에는 모든 것이 달라질 겁니다. 그럼 본격적으로 이야기를 풀어볼게요.

If I was smarter and good listener than before, Now I would become a rich man. When I think of that time, I feel so sorry about that. but It’s not late to do it again. because there are still lots of people who don’t know about what Blockchain(Bitcoin) is exactly sure. If I try to set up my mind like the beginning, everything is going to be all right 3 years later. ok! let’s begin the story now.

3년 전 그때 저는 호주에서의 생활을 마치고, 한국으로 돌아와 영어사업을 위해 스타트업 지원 프로그램에 참여했습니다. 그 당시 가장 큰 정기 세미나였던 고벤처포럼에 자주 갔는데요. 바로 거기서 처음! 비트코인을 알게 되었습니다. 그 당시 뒤풀이에서 비트코인에 대하여 설명하시던 대표님이 지금은 국내 블록체인 분야에서 유명인이 되어, 경제 관련 TV 프로그램에 자주 나오더군요. 그때 정말 몇 시간을 열정적으로 이야기 나눴는데, 왜 그때 비트코인 가치를 알아차리지 못했는지... 사실 그때는 블록체인이 아닌 비트코인에 대해서만 이야기를 나눴습니다.

3 years ago, I came back to Korea after the working-holiday in Western Australia and I participated in Venture Incubating Program for start-up. at that time, there is a regular seminar named Go-Venture Korea. so I used to go there for my business. Right there, I met what Bitcoin is at first in my life. one of the participants tried to explain what Bitcoin is to me. guess what, he became a famous CEO in the field of Blockchain. so we can watch him on TV now. at that time, “why didn’t I recognize the value of Bitcoin?” To tell you the truth, We just talked about Bitcoin without Blockchain to each other.

그래서 지금도 이런 생각을 합니다. “만약 그때 그 대표님이 비트코인 말고, 블록체인에 대하여 자세히 알려줬으면 어땠을까?” 그 당시 저는 비트코인을 싸이월드의 도토리 같은 하나의 가상화폐 정도로 알고 있었습니다. 지금이야 확실하게 가상 화폐와 암호 화폐를 구분해서 용어를 사용하는데, 그 당시에는 그렇지 않았습니다.

I think of this like .. “ What if we talk about Blockchain more than Bitcoin to each other?” at that time, I thought Bitcoin is just one of the virtual cash like a Dotori for Cyworld. you know, these days we call them Cryptocurrency, we do not call them digital cash. but at that time, we didn’t do that.

지금은 상황이 변해서 제가 오히려 주변 사람들에게 블록체인(비트코인)을 알리고 있습니다. 그래서 항상 “어떻게 하면 쉽고 빠르게 블록체인(비트코인)을 설명할 수 있을까?” 연구하고 있습니다. 여기 나름 이해가 쉽도록 몇 가지 멘트를 준비했는데, 한번 보시죠!

Everything has changed. so now I try to explain what Blockchain(Bitcoin) is to people around me. so I always think over which lines are good to understand about Blockchain easily. and here, I prepared some lines for you guys below. let’s check together.

블록체인(비트코인) 한 문장으로 쉽게 이해하기

— 가장 안전한 보안 기술로 구현된 비트코인, 현존하는 가장 안전한 자산
 — 중간자 없이, 최저 수수료로 쉽고 빠르게 개인 간 거래(가치교환) 가능
 — 비트코인 투자 명분(금융 민주화, 투명한 사회, 안전성 그리고 가치 상승)

Best lines to understand what Blockchain is

• The safest asset based on the best crytography technology, Blockchain
• The lowest and fastest p2p service without an intermediary
• There is a cause to invest(finance democracy, transparent society, security and high value)

짧은 몇 문장으로 모든 것을 설명하기란 쉽지 않네요. 사실 비트코인과 블록체인 기술은 서로 떨어질 수 없는 사이입니다. 즉, 블록체인 기술이 최초로 구현된 모습이 바로 비트코인이고, 비트코인에 그만한 가치가 부여될 수 있는 이유가 바로 블록체인 기술 때문입니다. 마치 동전의 양면처럼 말이죠!

It’s pretty difficult to explain in a short sentence. actually, we can’t split Bitcoin and Blockchain to each other. because they are one and the same. Bitcoin is just a result of Blockchain and Blockchain is a main concept for Bitcoin so they are like two side of the same coin.

정리해보면 결국 이렇습니다. 3년 전 엄청 저평가된 비트코인을 만났지만, 그 가치를 알아보지 못하고 인생의 기회를 놓쳤다. 그러나 3년이 지난 지금도 늦지 않았다. 왜냐하면 이 세상에는 여전히 그때의 나처럼 블록체인(비트코인)에 대해 모르는 사람이 더 많기 때문이다. 아직 나에게는 후반전이 남아있다!!

In summary, I met Bitcoin 3 years ago. but I lost the big chance to be a rich man. but it’s not late because there are lots of people here like me at the time. so I can do it and dream comes true.
