Hey @novacadian, that's an interesting question. Now I am wondering how you knew I am a witness!
I personally do not like explicitly advertising it through my profile. I am still a humble backup witness who makes very little direct contribution to non-KR steemit community. And I guess having "Witness" on my profile will affect how people would think about me, and then that could limit my communication with people and my campaigns (anti-spam and anti-abuse) that might look slightly biased to some people.
Do you think advertising witness title is right thing to do, or preferred by other witnesses?
Your reasons for not announcing that you are a witness is understandable, yet such humbleness may make it harder to get in the top 20. 😎
Although having voted for you, the witness listing page needed to be double checked for your name's spelling to be sure that you were the same person that got one of my witness votes.
Personally, knowing who a witness is and what they are doing for the steem community is important. Perhaps approaching it the other way, like you do, serves you well. An active rank of 64 is not bad at all.
Your being a witness became aware to me when researching where to place my votes using:
https://steemian.info/witnesses
Thanks for the work you do for the steem community!
haha I am not really ambitious to become the top 20 witness! :)
I have been fighting against to the spammers and abusers (including some quite big whales..!) in KR community through KR-Guidedog and Steemian Health Check (https://ianpark.github.io/shc/) projects. I think the later one can be also useful for the fighters like me around the world so I am considering to extend the monitoring target from KR Steemians to the entire Steemians.
Maybe you are right. I should put myself forward and get more support from the community to continue with my public projects and campaigns. I will seriously consider that. :)
Really appreciate your advice. All the best for you!
ps. my witness announcement is in the hompage link on my profile.. :)
