오후 출근이라 추석 명절 전 간식을 드리러 오전 11시쯤 경로당에 갔더니 경로당 문은 열려있는데 아무도 계시지 않았다.

실은 지난 번에 얼핏 어르신들 인생 이야기를 듣고 책으로 만들고 싶다고 말을 던져보긴 했지만 별로 귀담아 들으시는 거 같지 않았다.

간식과 함께 편지를 남기면서 '할머니의 요리책'을 남겨두고 왔다. 한 번 읽어보시기라도 하면 좋을 것 같았다.

나오려는 찰나 어르신 몇 분이 들어오셨다.
충북상회 여자사장님과 다른 일행 분도 계셨다. 민망하게도 나는 사장님을 못 알아봤는데 사장님만 나를 알아보셨다.

간식을 어찌 이리 사오녀는 말에 구청에서 받은 돈이라고 말씀을 한 번 더 드렸다. 출근 시간 때문에 나가려 하니 빈 손으로 못 보내신다고 포도송이를 조금 떼 주신다. 추석 명절 집을 방문하기 위해 무거운 가방이 포근한 햇살마냥 조금 가벼워진 기분이었다.
