Preamble: How old is our civilization? The answer to this question keeps changing over the last 2,000 years and will continue to change as we learn more about “our past”. One thing is clear – our “civilization” isn’t the first to have existed on this planet.
Just how many civilizations existed before us? The “oldest” civilization that is widely accepted at this time is the Sumerian which is believed to have existed around 4000 BC. Not everyone agrees though since several other pieces of “history” are not accounted for. The giants mentioned in the bible, the “fluvial” erosion in the body of the Sphinx in Egypt that could not have occurred before 10,000 BC, the Nephilim mentioned in Genesis (6:4) who took earthy women for wives who gave birth to the “giants”, the Anunnakis - believed to have created humans by altering ape’s DNA and ruled over earth for over 400,000 years.
History as we know it is incomplete and convoluted with mythology. But advances in technology is allowing us to separate history from myths.
I don’t know about you, but I want to know who or what created us and for what purpose. I think this is the ultimate riddle that sentient beings like us should strive to get an answer for. Imagine that you woke up one day with no memory of who you are. Would you not spend the rest of your life finding out who you really are, who your parents were, whether you have a family etc.? In a way, this is what happened to us. We forgot. Or maybe something tricked us to forget our true nature and our rightful place in the universe.
Genesis Story of The Great Flood
Then the Lord said to Noah, “Come into the ark, you and all your household, because I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation. You shall take with you seven each of every clean animal, a male and his female; two each of animals that are unclean, a male and his female; also seven each of birds of the air, male and female, to keep the species alive on the face of all the earth. For after seven more days I will cause it to rain on the earth forty days and forty nights, and I will destroy from the face of the earth all living things that I have made.” And Noah did according to all that the Lord commanded him. Noah was six hundred years old when the floodwaters were on the earth.
So Noah, with his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives, went into the ark because of the waters of the flood. Of clean animals, of animals that are unclean, of birds, and of everything that creeps on the earth, two by two they went into the ark to Noah, male and female, as God had commanded Noah. And it came to pass after seven days that the waters of the flood were on the earth. In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. And the rain was on the earth forty days and forty nights.
On the very same day Noah and Noah’s sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons with them, entered the ark— they and every beast after its kind, all cattle after their kind, every creeping thing that creeps on the earth after its kind, and every bird after its kind, every bird of every sort. And they went into the ark to Noah, two by two, of all flesh in which is the breath of life. So those that entered, male and female of all flesh, went in as God had commanded him; and the Lord shut him in.
Now the flood was on the earth forty days. The waters increased and lifted up the ark, and it rose high above the earth. The waters prevailed and greatly increased on the earth, and the ark moved about on the surface of the waters. And the waters prevailed exceedingly on the earth, and all the high hills under the whole heaven were covered. The waters prevailed fifteen cubits upward, and the mountains were covered. And all flesh died that moved on the earth: birds and cattle and beasts and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, and every man. All in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit[a] of life, all that was on the dry land, died. So He destroyed all living things which were on the face of the ground: both man and cattle, creeping thing and bird of the air. They were destroyed from the earth. Sumerian Story of The Great Flood
The ancient Sumerian tablet found in the ancient of Nippur in a country now known as Iraq describes the oldest account of the Great Flood and the creation of both humans and animals on our planet and records the names of Antediluvian cities on earth.
After Anu, Enlil, Enki, and Ninhursag
had fashioned the black-headed people,
Vegetation sprang from the earth,
Animals, four-legged creatures of the plain,
Were brought artfully into existence

Genesis Revisited
“Genesis” was derived from a Greek word that means “Origin”. For centuries, religious scholars, archaeologists, fortune hunters have been searching for evidence on the origin of the book without much success. The million dollar question regarding the book of Genesis is its authorship: no one knows who wrote it. Many scholars attribute the authorship to Moses but there are no archeological evidence unlike the other books of the bible.
In late 1500s, a Spanish Conquistador by the name of Hernán Cortés de Monroy y Pizarro Altamirano Marquis discovered the Aztec civilization. Even though outnumbered, he was able to subdue the blood-sacrificing empire led by a blood thirsty emperor Cuauhtemoc. It was not because of Spanish prowess or advanced weaponry. It was because of Aztec’s belief that Cortes was the returning Aztec god Quetzalcoatl.
According to some historians, Quetzalcoatl is the Sumerian god Enki who left Sumeria to establish a new civilization in what is now Utah, US. The same civilization migrated to Mexico following the instruction of their god Quetzalcoatl where they were to re=establish their civilization. The god's instruction: go south until you find an eagle perch on a bald tree eating a snake. So they kept walking until they spotted an eagle perch on a cactus eating a snake. The place was Tenochtitlán Mexico which is now the bustling Mexico city. Note: take a look at the Mexican flag: do you see a snake eating eagle?
What’s interesting is that after the conquest, the genocide and the plunder, Spanish priests suddenly got intrigued by the Aztec religion and beliefs. They were surprised to know that that are many similarities between the Aztec religion and the Christian religion. Their god Quetzalcoatl for example was born of a virgin in a cave, then at some point went AWOL for 40 days and 40 nights, and was also hanged on a cross. Similarly, the Aztec creation story which is similar to the Sumerian story of creation is exactly the same as the Genesis story of creation. What's more, Aztec has a well-documented story of the flood, which is the same as the flood story in the Genesis.
This knowledge not only surprised the Spanish priest but also disturbed them. How can a “primitive” civilization came to acquire all these knowledge that's even forbidden by the holy church from Christian "commoners"? What's more alarming is that the Aztec's dating of these narratives as documented in their various Aztec codices predates Christianity not just by a couple of years but by several thousand years!
This revelation is documented in the Aztec codices as well as the Aubin Codex the preparation of which was supervised by a Spanish friar Diego Durán in around 1576. The Aubin codex is evidence that the Spanish conquerors documented the Aztec religion and belief which mirror that of Christianity and the Sumerian tablets.
