Hello and welcome, i will be showing new ventures into indoor growing, harvesting and cooking what i have grown
Urban gardening is a fun hobby, But it's difficult to really feed yourself long term with limited space, you still have to use the supermarkets at some stage. It's the Autumn now and my small garden and polytunnel is nearing the end of the summer crops, mainly cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, lettuce and mixed greens.
So I decided to take the veggie growing inside this year, Ikea have a hydroponic system called Vaxer fairly cheap
£2.50 cultivation insert
£2.50 100 rockwool for propagation
£3 usb LED light ebay
I wanted to grow veggies that have a fast turnaround, and not just for salad, so i decided to start with Chinese Cabbage(napa cabbage)
a variety called 'CAPITOL H' 55 days to harvest. I started 8 seeds, 6 germinated in 3 days , the other 2 failed so i filled the spots with green onions and romaine lettuce base cut offs.
I still have some peppers for this summer growing on the windowsill, so i was thinking i would use the Chinese cabbage, green onions, and chilies to make home grown Kimchi. Radishes take about 30 days to harvest, so i will sow them this week hopefully everything can be harvested at the same time.
I will be posting updates weekly on my kimchi adventure and, what veggies to grow that can be harvested quickly
Thanks
Lolly5
