Hey Everyone!
In my Introduceyourself post, I shared that I had kept a journal since I was 12 years old!
These are photos of the journals I have kept over the years! My whole life is poured into these books in the form of words!
I have always kept "traditional" journals. In them is almost a full (word for word) account of my life since age 12! Recently, I stumbled across a new way of journaling. It peaked my interest. I figured I would try it out to see what I thought about it.
This new way of journaling is called Bullet Journaling! Here is a picture of an example of a bullet journal. This journal isn't mine, only an example!
A Bullet Journal is an analog system created by a designer based in New York, named Ryder Carroll. His definition of the Bullet Journal is, "a book that is meant to help you track the past, organize the present, and plan the future".
The Bullet Journal is a customizable organizational system. It can be a to-do-list, planner, calendar, sketchbook, notebook, and diary; and/or all of the above!I have done a lot of research on the topic, and I decided to go out and buy my own Bullet Journal!
One can use any type of notebook to make their Bullet Journal, but it's recommended to use a "dotted" journal! This is a journal with blank pages, but has dots so you can easily draw accurate lines in it! There is an example of the dotted pages below! It's recommended to use a ruler for extra accuracy!
Another recommendation is to get your permanent Bullet Journal, but to also get a practice Bullet Journal. I followed what was recommended, and I got a cheap Composition notebook (with graph paper instead of regular lined paper). This notebook was only 75 cent at WalMart.
Here is a picture of a page in my practice journal. I've written down some basics on how to start a Bullet Journal, along with tips and items that are usually used when Bullet Journaling. You can put anything you want in your journal, some tips on how to start one are: create an index at the beginning, make a year at a glance page, make a monthly page with a calendar, do either a daily or weekly page, and make a key so you'll know the status of your tasks!
You can use any mediums you want to write with in your Bullet Journal. Here are some recommended items to use: pens, markers (felt tip and fineline), Washi Tape, ruler, Post It Notes, gel pens, pencils, colored pencils, highlighters, sharpies, and stickers!
I haven't done much yet in my new Bullet Journal! I have started my book introduction. I expect to really benefit from this type of journal, and I also expect to have a lot of fun creating it! Maybe later I will make another post with my progress in my journal!
Thanks for reading! Hope you enjoyed!

Hi Lori, I hope you are doing well! As you can see, things can cool off pretty fast with new people. I just want you to know I think your posts so far are very refreshing, interesting and honest.
A couple of examples. I also feel as you do coming back to live in the area I grew up in in southern Ontario. I have lived all over Canada and visited over 25 states. I always feel like a fish out of water until I am back home. My true home. It's so hard to put into words, but it kind of feels like my blood is being sucked into the earth here. I belong. With this post, I find it intriguing because I have never really found an adaptable journal which has more or less kept me from keeping one. I will look into the bullet journal idea a bit more.
By the way, The Dolphin Cocoon vote came from myself and Snekky (@poeticsnake). She and I run a number of little projects together.
See you around!
