Does this mean that Joe is embracing NFTs? Are NFTs going to be bigger or more mainstream in some way after this episode?

I listened to the entire three hour podcast episode today. There were so many other things I could have done... but, I wanted to listen in on what would be one of the most mainstream conversations around NFTs ever.

Well, let me save you some time: It isn't an episode about NFTs.

Joe Rogan is Here for the Art, not the NFTs

They spend some time at the beginning and end of the discussion talking about NFTs, and Joe does sound open to the idea of doing a simple charity project with NFTs at some point. But in general, Joe doesn't care too much. He finds the NFT idea a bit ridiculous.

What he wants to talk about with Beeple, and the reason he had Beeple on, was mostly the art itself. Beeple's Instagram account is wild. Most of us have seen some of his crude, edgy, futuristic and pop culture laden artworks on Instagram before he became known for NFTs.

NFT Obsession

This podcast episode is an example of how NFTs will become normalized by becoming less of a big part of the conversation.

The NFTs don't go mainstream by becoming something everybody talks about. IMO, NFTs will be mainstream when nobody talks about them -- but we all use them anyway.

We'll mention NFTs, like we mention the internet. But we don't debate the internet -- the internet won. That's what NFTs will do. They will become so common that the debate will stop being interesting.

This can happen without everybody becoming obsessed with NFTs. And, indeed, most of your friends will not become obsessed with NFTs. But they will use NFTs.

So be patient, and don't get too stuck being "that NFT guy/gal" in your social circles. Use NFTs in all the ways they are useful, and the utility will do all the talking.
