Improving your employment is a process so this will be a series of articles. I will go through it step by step so this is step 1.
I have had Human Resources responsibilities for several years. I have done the hiring and firing. I have had great employees come to me and give notice when they are about to move on.
I would say the first step would be figure out why do you want to quit and move to a better job? Because there are good reasons and bad reasons. Here are some good reasons.
You have a desire to change to a stable field of work
You want to get into a better career path
More promotion opportunities
Better growth
Something more challenging
You want to travel less / more due to work
You want to take better care of your home responsibilities
More pay
fewer / more hours
If these are some of the reasons that you are wanting to get a different job fantastic.
Now you need to decide whether or not you want to move to a different company because sometimes just being honest with your employer can help you move to a better job within the company that you work at.
If you are a productive and profitable employee your employer doesn't want to lose you and will find ways to keep you. If it is possible.
If they are unable to work with you it is time to look at other companies, and this is what I will discuss in part 2 of this series.
Happy job hunting.
Moving jobs can be difficult. But it definitely can help with your long term success.
