For example:
“Dearly beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits if they be of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” (The Holy Bible, Douay-Rheims Version, 1 John 4:1.)
“For there shall arise false Christs [Saviours] and false prophets; and shall show great signs and wonders, insomuch as to deceive (if possible) even the elect.” – Mat.24:24.
“Whose coming [Antichrist] is according to the working of Satan, in all power, and signs, and lying wonders, and in all seduction of iniquity to them that perish; because they receive not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. Therefore God shall send them the operation of error, to believe lying.” – 2 Thessalonians 2:9,10.
“But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there shall be among you lying teachers….” – 2 Peter 2:1.
“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in the clothing of sheep, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. By their fruits you shall know them.” – Mat.7:15,16.
“Thou shalt not hear the words of that prophet or dreamer: for the Lord your God trieth you, that it may appear whether you love Him with all your heart, and with all your soul, or not… And that prophet or forger of dreams shall be slain: because he spoke to draw you away from the Lord your God….” – Deuteronomy 13:3,5.
Pastor Charles Taze Russell was himself the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society’s first deceiver and false prophet.
Russell constructed an elaborate system for calculating the “signs of the times” (the time for the end of the world) from his study of the Scriptures and...of the Egyptian Great Pyramid; he drew many people away into believing his pyramidological calculations by basing them on his interpretation of the bible and the “wonders” of the measurements of the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt.
Yes, you heard that right.
Stay tuned for that in the next installement!
