If you have built cars, and mean really built cars street race/drift/circuit/rally/etc., at some point you have had to deal with some issues while on a drive, on the road and out on the field.

In Australia we call it bush mechanics, we have also called it 'Macgyver'ing' in the past, but im sure there are a great number of names for it around the world.

Essentially its when you are in a bind with something you are doing on your car, you dont have the right tools or parts you need to 'fix the issue' the right way, so you have to creatively make things work with what you have on hand.

Personally i have made circlips out of paperclips, coat hanger exhaust hangers, used a breaker bar as a steering wheel... the list goes on.

We do what we can to limp the car home or even out to get the parts we need from the store. While we look back at these things an have a laugh some may think we are crazy for doing these things but we get it done right ?

So what have you guys done to fix your cars in their time of need? Put your Images and stories in the chatspace below.

one time i was cruising through the desert on my bike and the hose coming from my petcock sprung a leak, fuel was spewing all over!!! i pulled over, popped my nickelback cassette out of my walkman and used the tape to wrap the hose tightly. got to the next town about 5 miles away and fixed the issue then used a pencil to wind the tape back into the cassette, spliced it together with a piece of scotch tape and it still works great to this day, i just listened to it last week.

look at this photograph....

Many years ago I had a 1966 mini deluxe and was driving through a hilly section of road in Queensland Australia. I notice the brakes were not working as good as normal. Pulled over by the side of the road for a look. Found brake fluid leaking from the passengers side rear brake pipe. So found a pair of pliers in the boot cut the pipe and folded it over and squeezed it to stop the fluid from leaking out. Topped off the brake fluid reservoir and drove a few more day's like that until I got a replacement pipe👍

Brake issues can be scary and dangerous if you dont know what you are doing, but if you are onto it you and know whats up you pull a rabbit outta the hat like you did with this roadside modification, good job mate !!!

Yes gotta be careful for sure. And I like that Conrod used to clamp up that exhaust in that pic👍
