Down in Oita

There is a cool place in Mie, Bungoōno-shi with some cool caves. Its part of a large complex that also includes a Showa era museum and Buddhist temple with many statues.

You can walk through the caves and there are many underwater sections, where divers can explore. The route was quite long and the caves are at a cool temperature all year long. It is one of the largest underwater caves in Japan.

There are few Buddhist statues and people leave coins in random areas for good luck. The caves are of the limestone variety and was submerged during volcanic activity a long time ago. The water is crystal clear.

So if your on the road through Oita this is one of the sites to visit.
